This promotes shade out of the sun and a place to remove your dirty shoes/boots and your outdoor gear Since the rain fly comes right down to the ground, it offers the best rain protection. There is never any leaks, even in a huge downpour! There are a lot of tie points to anchor this tent to the ground with. This is so it won’t blow over, even in really strong winds. And due to the heavy-duty rain fly, you won’t feel any coldness coming into the tent It has many great features, such as the room divider, zippered mesh windows, 2 large doors, storm flaps, and much more

The trekking poles aren’t included in the purchase, so without those, you can’t create the canopy There are a lot of poles and sleeves, making it quite difficult to pitch if you’re a newbie The back end of the tent doesn’t have any reinforcing, meaning the poles don’t start from the corners. This results in the fly flapping around in the wind (for the back area). And even though it doesn’t cause any problems, it CAN be annoying when it’s windy The zippers aren’t the greatest. So if they aren’t looked after properly, they will break faster than usual

Summary: So much people are mentioning how much rain this tent can keep out! Even in 5 days of heavy downpour, there is no signs of leakage whatsoever. Furthermore, no cold air will get inside the tent with the rain fly on AND it won’t blow over in strong winds. It holds up very nicely.

With so many features and the ability to keep you well-protected from the elements, makes this tent truly one-of-a-kind.

And even though some people are complaining about the stakes, they are minimalistic and still work extremely well. The stakes that come with this tent are completely fine, you do not need to purchase others.

The Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6 Tent is a 4-season tent and created to house a maximum of 6 people. There’s a room divider, along with mesh panels to offer ventilation.

Also, the rain fly can be held up with 2 trekking poles so you can stay protected from the sun.

The entire tent has a freestanding design and includes reflective guylines for better visibility at nighttime.

It’s been described as a deluxe tent due to the features it provides. It has 2 doors and a vestibule room as well.

The body is a riptsop polyester (breathable) material, while the windows are made of nylon mesh. Furthermore, the rain fly is a 1500mm ripstop polyester material with a polyurethane coating and a 1500m durable polyester waterproof polyurethane coating for the flooring material.

The poles on this tent are made with the latest technology. They are designed with better durability to make the tent last longer. The scientific name for them are called DAC aluminium, which is much lighter than other pole systems and much more eco-friendly as well.

There are sleeves and plastic clips attached to the pole frame, allowing the tent to be pitched in a fast manner.

All seams have been taped for increased rain protection, while they have been made with a waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane to ensure no rain will leak through.

The carry bag is actually styled like a briefcase.

It includes shoulder straps and organizational pockets – making it much easier to carry, to organize your equipment easier, and to stow it away in a cinch.

This tent contains 2 doors. Both of them are VERY large.

They have 2 closure options, allowing you to unzip them to keep air flow coming in for ventilation due to the mesh material, or zip the polyester layer up for privacy – a good idea if you’re in a public campground.

Otherwise, you can just keep both doors open during the day time and have an easy thoroughfare while having as much fresh air flowing into the tent as possible.

Storage

The main entry area contains a vestibule room, with a piece of the rain fly having the ability to be held up by 2 trekking poles, providing you with shade and a place to relax under – out of the hot summer sun.

Furthermore, there is a “fabric wall” that comes included with the purchase. It allows you to divide the tent into 2 rooms.

One room can be for gear and whatnot, and the other room can be for sleeping in. However, this won’t be possible if there’s exactly 6 people camping in it.

The wall divider/fabric can be fully removed if you choose not to use it.

And yes, there are multiple mesh storage pockets so you can have your smaller items close at hand.

But there is no free gear loft included, it is actually sold separately. The gear loft loops are there if you decide to purchase one though.

Ventilation

Alright, so this tent has roughly 50% mesh material on the roof, promoting stargazing opportunities and ventilation.

The large doors offer even more ventilation during the day time, or even if you want them closed, air can still keep coming in since they’re made up of mesh.

At nighttime, simply close the windows up with the privacy panels and/or put the rain fly on to stay protected from the rain.

An adjustable vent is on the rain fly as well, so you can still get air coming into the tent while you are using it.

Weatherproofing

So it is a 4-season tent, meaning it can withstand some harsh rain storms AND snow, and that’s why the material is so thick and the frame is really sturdy, otherwise it will just fold over in the wind.

There is a total of 15 hook stakes to help make this happen.

There are also storm flaps on the zippers to ensure no cold air will seep through and into the tent, while the webbing on the corners of the tent offer you greater protection from the rain as well.

I do like the fact that you can create a canopy using trekking poles, and how large the doors are.

When you have a big family tent, massive D-doors are a must if you want to have the best convenience for when you’re out camping in the wilderness.

Furthermore, the room divider is also a great feature that makes this tent stand out from the crowd, for the simple fact that you can have the kids in 1 room and the parents in the other!

What I Don’t Like

I don’t like that you need your OWN trekking poles if you want to use the canopy feature, and obviously since the manufacturers completely overlooked the zippers on this tent.

They should have known from the very start that big families can be rough when opening and closing tents, so they should have just put larger, higher quality ones right from the get-go.

Who Should Buy This Tent?

If you’re a big family of campers, then you should definitely consider purchasing the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6 Tent.

It can house 6 people, total. So if you and your partner want to go camping with the kids (2 adults and 4 kids), it would perform like a charm, especially since you can have the kids in 1 room and the adults in the other.

This tent would be good to use for a group of friends as well, since it offers great privacy options.

Well, since I haven’t seen a tent that stands up in the winds as good as this one (obviously because it’s a 4-season tent), and due to the waterproofing abilities being MUCH better than what you’ll find on other tents, I’ll have to give the Big Agnes Flying Diamond Tent a big thumbs up!

I also like that cold air can’t sneak into the tent due to the storm flaps on the zippers.

The entire concept is great and I don’t see why the cons should get in the way of the many benefits that this tent offers.

I absolutely, 100% recommend this tent! Well done Big Agnes!

The Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6 Tent isn’t exactly on the cheaper side, but what do you expect to pay for a tent that’s going to keep you toasting warm AND providing you with the best protection from the rain and wind.

So many users are emphasizing the weatherproofing capabilities, and that’s because they work, and they perform beyond expectations, which is why I can’t recommend this tent enough.

There are a few cons, yes – but they are very minor and do not come close to how well the tent performs out on the trail.

Due to the vast amount of benefits you will gain from this tent, and because the pros heavily outweigh the cons, the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 6 Tent is highly recommended!
