Due to a large amount of manufacturers releasing downright bad products, I set out to find out if this tent goes under that category.
There are just too many people having bad camping experiences.
Tents are leaking, they are breaking even when brand new, and sometimes even getting flooded completely, soaking everything inside of them.
Well I’m here to provide my honest Mountain Trails Twin Peaks Tent – 3 Person review, to discover if the design is any good and if it will keep you bone dry in a freak thunderstorm.
Enjoy!
You'll Be Taking A Gamble With This Tent
Summary:
A great tent that does the job, but you’re really taking a gamble. You may or may not receive a good one, and because they are so cheaply made, you have a higher chance of getting a bad one. This alternative is a much better choice – in my professional opinion.

Quick Description
This tent has enough space to sleep 3 people. The door is a large “D” shape, which makes entry and exit a whole lot easier for everyone.
There is also a frame shaped, which is built in a LOOP, for more protection in strong winds, while the rain fly keeps you dry as much as possible.
The ceiling consists of a mesh material, along with large windows which have been known to provide great ventilation.
The gear loft is included in the purchase, as well as the footprint protector, making this tent stand out from its competitors in the same price bracket.
Also, the mud mat works wonders for keeping all the dirt, mud, and sand out of the tent since it’s pre-attached. Talk about ultimate convenience!
What It Offers
Storage – The storage is offered by a unique utility pocket and gear loft, which is surprisingly free with the purchase, something you don’t see very often in cheap tents
Protection – A rain fly is placed over top of the tent to make it rain-resistant. The hoop frame (dome shape) makes it stand strong in high winds, while the footprint protector (included) protects the bottom of the tent even more, making it last much longer than it would otherwise
Stow-n-go Duffel System – It has been given the Stow-n-go duffel system, which makes this tent very easy to set up and take down, and to store away – obviously
Easy Instructions – There are “fold labels” located on this tent where they are needed, making it a breeze to take down, preventing unintentional damages and making it last longer even more
Mud Mat – This is a piece of fabric that wraps around the tent when not pitched. When you unfold and pitch the tent, it becomes the mud mat. It seems so simple but so very effective at the same time. What a great job, Mountain Trails 🙂
What I Like
What I like the MOST about this tent is that it’s extremely affordable while providing a free gear loft and footprint protector.
It’s very rare to see a tent of this price that includes these additional items in the purchase.
The Stow-n-go duffel system is something else that caught my eye. I’m all for ease of use, and this one takes the cake!
I am also a big fan of the full-mesh roof. This allows you to sleep under the stars on the more warmer nights, if the weather allows for it, of course.
What I Don’t Like
The rain fly doesn’t look like it would be that much help during a harsh rainstorm, but at this price, what can you expect?
Because it only covers 50% of the upper walls, side rain will easily hit the tent body and make its way inside.
Who This Tent Is For
If you know there isn’t going to be much rain, with only a few short bursts of it, then it could absolutely work for you.
The tent can house up to 3 people, but that is with everyone lined up like sardines. So if you want to camp with extra space for gear, 2 people (max) will be the better option.
It works as a backyard tent for the kids, a cheap event tent, and even as a weekend tent for a public campsite.
So if any of these apply to you, then you might want to get one for yourself before it’s too late.
Where To Get One For Yourself
These tents can be purchased from the popular online store – Amazon.com.
The #1 reason why Amazon are simply the best is because they offer great bonuses with every purchase.
You will get a 30-day return policy, which means if you don’t like the tent, you can get a full refund with NO questions asked.
Furthermore, get all repairs free of charge.
But first, you need to ensure they are still available.
Check Availability For This Tent
Is It Worth Getting?
It all depends on what you plan on using it for.
If you wish to go backpacking out in the wilderness, then no, it is not for you.
If you are looking for a cheap event tent or a summer camping tent, then this may very well work in your favor, taking into consideration that you seam seal it first.
It is not the best at combating the rain, as many people have found out the hard way, so it is more preferred for places where it will be calm most of the time.
Does that sound like your type of camping trip? Because it does stay standing in strong winds, it’s just not as waterproof as others.
But for the price of this one, and if you plan on using it for the trips I have outlined above, I can give it an easy yes, it is definitely worth it.
However, it will be a COMPLETE waste of time if you want a tent that will last a long time as well as keeping you bone dry in a heavy downpour, because it is not made to withstand such conditions.
Alternative Tents Worth Looking In To
If you are unsure about the Mountain Trails Twin Peaks Tent – 3 person, since it doesn’t really last that long nor is it as big as the manufacturers claim it to be, the “next best tent” would have to be the Coleman Sundome 3 Person Tent. It’s SO MUCH better quality, likely to withstand a lot of rain, and in the same price bracket too. Get the most out of it by seam sealing it first though.
Otherwise if you want a tent that doesn’t need seam sealing whatsoever, as it’s already waterproofed enough, while having much more room than what this tent offers, then you’ll fall in love with the Wenzel Pine Ridge Tent.
My Final Words
Do not go cheap and end up getting a tent that doesn’t suit your needs.
If you definitely know that you need a high quality one, then spend a little more and go higher quality.
But please, do NOT purchase this tent if you’re expecting it to last for many years and/or going to keep you bone dry in a freak rainstorm, because you will soon be let down otherwise.
So the question is this:
Do you need a tent for quick use, such as an event (festival, family, etc), backyard, or even a weekend camping trip in the summertime? Then this tent is definitely for you.
But if you are looking for the utmost best tent, something to use for backpacking or rough weather conditions, then you are better off going with the Wenzel Pine Ridge (5 person) Tent.
Thank you for reading and I hope you make the right decision to fit your camping needs.
