CORE usually make great tents, but having a good 6 and 12-person version doesn’t necessarily mean this one will be good as well.
That’s why I’m writing an honest and unbiased CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent review.
I want to debunk all the online feedback that this tent has received, find the true quality of it, then provide my final opinion.
So if you’re searching for an honest review on this tent, you are in the right place.
The "all-in-one" tent?
Summary:
This tent offers the “all-in-one” package. There are many great features – my favorite being the 60-second instant setup, while the H20 Block Technology means water runs off much faster than traditional tents and it has no problems in strong winds either. A great tent for the price in my honest opinion.

Summary
This is the CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent, a tent that can be pitched in literally 60 seconds since all poles are pre-attached to the fabric.
Core H20 Block Technology + water repellent fabrics + active bead technology, added with factory-sealed seams for all doors and windows, means the water runs off much faster than traditional tents without this combination.
This tent has the ability to house a total of 9 people but can be less for maximum livability, and that’s simply because of the shape.
The cabin-shape means the walls are vertical, allowing you to move around freely and easily – especially for taller people.
Key Features
- 60-second setup
- Spacious enough for 2 queen-sized air mattresses
- CORE H20 Block Technology for the best protection against the rain
- Adjustable ground vents to provide comfortable temperatures in all weather conditions
- Wall divider for privacy from other campers
- Large wall organizer for all your valuables, plus it keeps everything in a tidy manner
- Electrical access that can be closed when not in use
Entry/Exit
There are 2 very large doors on this tent, which is definitely one of its strongest perks.
2 doors on a large tent when camping with a lot of people is always handy, while keeping them open on a hot sunny day is also good for air flow.
The only downside is that the zippers require 2 hands and have been known to get stuck on the outer fabric when in use.
Storage
So as you can see, the interior space is huge, which means you can use the inside of the tent for storage as well as the large wall organizers.
What’s so great about the wall organizer is that it’s included in the purchase 🙂
These work very well at keeping your items off the floor and in a tidy manner.
Ventilation
What’s so great about the CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is the adjustable ground vent.
If having all windows and large doors open doesn’t provide enough breeze, you can actually draw cold air from the ground so you stay cool with the advance venting system.
The mesh roof also provides a place for the warmer air to escape, meaning you won’t feel like you’re in a sauna all day.
Wind-Resistance
This tent has definitely passed the “high winds” test, as many users have found it to stand strong in heavy winds.
One user said:
“In a freak storm, there were many tents falling over and breaking, causing camp goers to sleep in their cars for the rest of the night.
But to my surprise, the CORE 9 handles all of that very well and has no troubles keeping you safe during the night.”
Water-Resistance
Of course this should come as no surprise, and especially because of the CORE H20 Block Technology, it handles the rain flawlessly – in my honest opinion, and hundreds of other buyers that have personally used this tent.
As I’ve mentioned in this review already, the active bead technology and water repellent fabric just makes the rain run off as quickly as possible, meaning long hours of downpour will not affect this tent one bit.
What I Like About The CORE 9
I really like the advanced venting system, as these are fairly unique to the CORE tents themselves.
The amount of space it provides is also another favorite feature of mine.
Furthermore, I like that there’s a large wall organizer included in the purchase. This one is massive and gets the job done very well.
What This Tent Is Best Used For
The CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is best used for summer camping at a public campsite but also works in the wilderness as well.
It can handle minor winter conditions such as high winds and heavy downfalls, so it’s a good tent to use if you’re expecting rough weather.
Examples this tent is good for:
- Summer camping
- Minor winter conditions
- Wilderness camping
- Public camping
- Family events
- Backyard camping

Do I Recommend It?
Absolutely!
CORE have built some amazing tents in the past few years, and this is one of them!
There are a large amount of feedback that it has received over the years, with only a very small number of them being negative.
Just like the CORE 6 and 12, the 9-person also gets my seal of approval 🙂
This tent has no problems keeping the rain at bay, doesn’t budge in strong winds, and has a very high chance of keeping you safe when you’re counting on it the most – as many users have found out first hand.
The CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is highly recommended!
Alternative Tent
Coleman have a similar “instant” tent to this one, both still being unique in their own way.
The Coleman 8 Person Instant Tent is slightly more expensive than the CORE, still contains some great features but doesn’t have the advance venting system or H20 block technology – which means it doesn’t ventilate as well as the CORE.
However, the materials does seem a little stronger.
My Final Opinion
I have found that the CORE 9 is WELL worth the price it has been given, simply because you can not put a price on you and your families safety when in the wild.
You absolutely NEED a tent that will hold the rain out for as long as possible and stay standing in strong winds,
The CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent happens to be that tent.
It’s in the highly affordable price range for a 9-person tent and does a great job at combating the elements.
What more could you ask for?
The cons are minor and the pros outweigh these small issues by a long shot, which is why I have to say that the CORE 9 Person Tent is a great choice and highly recommended!

Hey Brandon such an awesome post. I actually just purchased the CORE 9 a little back and every thing you say is true. My 11yr old sets up the tent by him self with no problems. I haven’t use the wall organizer much, but really nice to have in case. For me I love not having to bend over is worth the price do to a bad back. I’m glad to hear it can with stand the wind which we haven’t needed to worry about that yet thank goodness. Thanks for more detail about this tent Brandon. Truly helpful to me.
Nice one Zach! Fortunately for you it does an amazing job in the wind so you do not need to worry about that, however, if you happen to experience strong winds on your travels I’m sure other potential buyers would love to hear what you have to say about it too.
Cheers my friend and have a great day!
This looks like a gorgeous tent! It’s almost nicer than my house! lol I love that it has an extra wide door and that it can fit two queen-sized mattresses. My brother likes to camp with his family, and this would be a perfect tent for his family and my family to camp together.
When you say the main door requires a two-handed operation, what does that mean exactly? Is it just really hard to open? Is it something someone really strong needs to take care of? That’s the only part I’m concerned about.
Haha well they don’t call it a home away from home for nothing. It really is as big as a small home!
Two-handed operation simply means you have to use by hands to open the door because the zippers are cheap and low quality and prone to break easily.
If you try and open it with one hand all the time it may break. That’s the bad thing about core tents.
I love the fact that this is so simple to set up! 60 seconds! Heck yes! I can understand the concerns about draftiness, but I guess, I’d prefer a well ventilated tent instead of not ventilated. Thanks for the great review and thorough information!
You like that Christina? I guess the less time it takes to setup a tent the more time you get to relax and enjoy the great outdoors!
Thanks for this great review! Who doesn’t love camping? What usually bothers me the most is the long time it takes until the tent is set up. This is one of the features I like the most. Only 60 seconds! That is amazing. No squeezing! There is so much space that you can bring your whole family with you! Thanks again for sharing. If I decide to go camping in my next holiday, I will definitely buy this tent!
Lol a lot of people love the 60-second instant setup feature!
You won’t be let down if you decide to purchase it my friend.
Hello Brandon,
I didn’t know that there existed tents which were so sophisticated. I saw the video and I see that it is so easy to set up that even a child can do! I also like the fact that it is ventilated. Thank for the all around review!
Thank you Enxhi. A well ventilated tent is a must or you may wake up with condensation dripping on you and all of your equipment.
And yes, it can get that bad when there’s a lack of ventilation so good job for noticing how much ventilation it has.
Hi Brandon,
You know Brandon, a tent like the Core 9 Person is something I always wanted but really never had opportunity to buy one. Even though I live a stones throw away from local natural woodlands I still have not gotten around to camping out in the woods ever in my life. I have to change that sometime really soon and tent above looks so easy to assemble and I imagine would do you a life time. Thanks Brandon, you have given me much to think on.
Thanks for review.
I’m looking to upgrade to the Core 9 person instant tent.
I’m wondering since your review has the zipper problem been resolved or fixed?
Thanks
