Mountain Hardwear usually create good quality tents, however, this does not mean all their products will do the trick and keep you sheltered from the elements.
I’m here to review this tent – to find all the flaws, pros and cons, and most of all the quality.
This is my Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 Tent review.
Enjoy finding out exactly what this tent is about by reading below.
Strongest and Most Waterproof Tent Yet!
Summary:
If you’re after a flawless tent that CONTINUES to stand like a house in days of torrential rain, brutal winds and snow storms, this tent is the answer.
I don’t praise tents as much as I’ve praised this one, and that should be the first sign of a great product (especially if you know me).
It is so strong and high quality that it lasts for 10+ years.
I love this tent and highly recommend it, 100%.

Description
So this tent contains DAC Featherlite poles, which are extremely environmental-friendly and creates a strong/sturdy base.
The “dry room” at the front is called a vestibule, and it contains 2 of them. They are good for storing your bigger items (backpacks and boots) out of the rain and wind.
The brow pole also creates a tall entry so nobody struggles getting in and out.
It contains a bathtub floor construction, taped seams, welded corners and welded guy clips. All of this ensures no rain makes its way into the tent even in a torrential downpour.
Ventilation consists of a mesh door and ceiling vent, while the rain fly allows for better/brighter visibility and an easy view of the outdoor world.
Features
DAC Feather light NSL Poles – This feature creates the “base strength” of the tent. Without this it would struggle to stand in high winds
Double Vestibule – Having interior storage means you can backpack with others and split the weight up between youse. Simply store everyone’s gear inside the waterproof storage area!
Brow Pole – This makes for much easier entry and exit, especially when everyone’s using the tent throughout the day
“Guaranteed” Watertight Construction – Guaranteed means it is definitely going to keep you dry, and that is indeed a massive claim the manufacturers are making here
SVX Windows – Experience a brighter interior and a way to view the outdoor world without having to actually leave the tent or open the door
Pitch Light – It can also be used in the summertime thanks to the Pitch Light construction. Go backpacking light and ensure a light trip. It’s as simple as that!
Bonuses
Storage Pockets – Yes, there are storage pockets built-in to the interior of the Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 Tent. Keep your more important items close at hand and easily accessible
Gear Loft (Sold Separately) – Gain even more interior storage simply by purchasing the additional gear loft
Reflective Systems – The guy out loops, zipper pulls and color-coded starter tab all illuminate at nighttime. This makes setup a breeze and user experience much easier and more convenient
Footprint (Sold Separately) – One way to protect your investment easily and effortlessly is by using the additional footprint protector. Using this will extend the life of the tent and ensure you get years of use out of it
Anything interesting that I found?
I do like that it provides a large amount of features.
One that sticks out to me the most is the “Guaranteed Watertight Construction”.
Manufacturers don’t usually make these massive claims, so I’m very surprised that they’ve slapped this statement on the official product page.
The brow pole is not what you see often either.
I’m a huge fan of convenience, so I always have a good feeling about tents when they provide a bunch of cool features like this one 🙂
Any red flags?
Apparently one guy used this tent for years before one of the poles cracked.
The manufacturers did not replace them right away and instead sent him to a third-party website.
He’s now claiming that they have bad customer service.
Apart from that there is no other red flags I could find, which is a really good sign.
Where to get it from
I purchase all my outdoor equipment from Amazon.com for the simple reason that they have extremely fast shipping and the cheapest prices.
They ALWAYS provide discounts and have a very good 30-day return policy that I like.
All damages and defects will be repaired free of charge (as long as it’s within those first 30 days).
You can get a full refund as well, as long as you send the product back of course.

Do I recommend it?
Well my friend, this is the very first tent I’ve reviewed that has no negative reviews or feedback.
Personally, I think it’s because it doesn’t have much purchases up its sleeve just yet, but it is a good sign nonetheless.
In this tent you can actually enjoy rough weather while staying warm and comfortable out of the elements, and that’s one thing buyers enjoy about it.
I doubt it is flawless because even high-end products have small flaws. It’s just a matter of waiting for more feedback to see what they are.
But for now, the Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 Tent is HIGHLY recommended,
The amount of protection it provides from the elements is amazing!
Similar tents
The Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent is a much cheaper option and a good idea if you can’t afford the Trango 4 or on a tight budget. The cons are also non-existent other than the low quality stakes. However, the total price is still much lower even after purchasing stronger ones.
The Black Diamond Mega Light Tent is a great alternative as well. If the weight is an issue to you, this tent only weighs 2.13 pounds and makes a great backpacking tent. It may not be AS weatherproof as the other ones mentioned, but still worth checking out in my opinion.
Final thoughts on the Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 Tent
I’ve noticed something – people use this tent in the summertime and extreme weather conditions.
I have concluded that it REALLY is a 4-season tent!
Simply remove the rain fly during the warmer months and enjoy the cool breeze, or keep it on in snow/heavy rain/high winds and stay comfortable and warm.
It is a straightforward tent that does what it’s designed to do, without fail.
It has no troubles combating days of side rain, heavy snow loads and 40+ MPH winds.
And that my friend, is why I highly recommend the Mountain Hardwear Trango 4 Tent.
