You just landed on a page that’s providing the best eureka tent reviews.
Eureka is a well-known and trusted brand, which is one of the main reasons why I’m writing the top 7 best tents that this company has ever created.
Eureka only focus on creating high quality tents.
This is so you can purchase one that’s actually going to stand the test of time and perform as good as they claim it to.
The tents that I’m talking about today are great value for money, they give you the best protection from the elements and will never let you down.
What I mostly like about Eureka is that they know how to make their tents unique from the hundreds of competitors.
Keep reading to discover the very best Eureka tents, the ones that make a great choice for any outdoor camping trip.
1. Eureka Tetragon 8 Tent – 8 Person – Great for a growing family of car campers
The Eureka Tetragon 8 Tent contains 2 rooms, however, the zippered room divider can be removed to make 1 large room.
There is 2 doors and a bathtub-shaped floor (wraps up the sides), giving it more protection against the rain.
The rain fly is double-coated with StormShield to protect the tent from the rain even more.
There are 4 windows for the best views and ventilation/air flow, stopping condensation as much as possible.
There are shockcorded fiberglass frames, designed for a quick and reliable set up every time.
The rain fly hangs over the window as well, which means you can keep the window open in light rain.
Furthermore, the rain fly extends on both sides of the tent (right down to the ground) to provide you the best protection against the rain. The seams are all factory sealed too.
Note: There are no images on Amazon that shows the rain fly on this tent. However, the rain fly IS included in the purchase.
Pros
- A large tent that’s actually affordable
- Anyone 6 feet or shorter can stand up easily in the middle
- It can actually fit 6 people ‘comfortably’
- Hold ups in the wind very well, as a lot of users have mentioned
- Can fit 2 air mattresses inside and still have enough room for gear
Cons
- May require a tarp underneath the tent to protect your investment, as the flooring material isn’t the best
- The fabric/walls of the tent aren’t the best quality either. It’s a good idea to be extra gentle when setting up and taking down
The Verdict
This is one of those tents that can house a lot of people, handle torrential downpour AND rough wind conditions.
And that’s why I had to include it in this list.
It’s at a great price and still high quality enough to camp in bad weather (just in case a rainstorm passing through the night).
At least you’ll know you will still be safe while inside it.
My Final Rating
2. EUREKA! Copper Canyon 4 – 4 Person Tent – Very spacious and best used for small families or group of friends
This tent is designed to fit 4 people.
The walls are upright and built to look like a cabin for maximum living space.
Supposedly, it can fit a family of 4 inside this tent ‘easily’, and because it has a large D-shaped door, it allows for much easier entry and exit.
There are 4 very large windows (as you can see in the product image above) and a roof vent to provide the best ventilation.
The rain fly and floor seams have all been sealed from factory, making this tent ready to go as soon as it arrives, while the polyester fabric been coated to make the tent durable and long-lasting.
This is another tent that contains shockcorded poles with clips and sleeves for faster and easier pitching.
The external guy points help it stay standing in strong winds.
Pros
- It is easy to set up, even by one person in high winds!
- Tall people can stand up straight while inside this tent (center height: 7 feet)
- It can handle heavy rain and thunderstorms without a problem
- Can fit back into its carry case a lot easier than other tents
Cons
- Will not retain heat due to the roof being made of mesh – letting all the warm air out
- The floor material is thin and flimsy. It may puncture without a tarp
My Verdict
It isn’t the best for cold weather camping since it doesn’t hold heat well, but other than that, it performs extremely well in the summer time.
A lot of users have said it gives the best ventilation and air flow so you won’t be sitting inside and cooking during the day time.
The only downside is the flooring material, which is the same as the walls. If you get this tent, just make sure you clear the ground before pitching it and use a tarp for extra security.
My Final Rating
3. Eureka! Apex 2XT Two-Person Tent – Good for backpacking in the wilderness
The Eureka! Apex 2XT Two-Person Tent is in a ‘lightweight range’, meaning it isn’t extremely lightweight but it is still good enough to go backpacking with.
It compacts down really small, so it works well for a backpacking trip into the backcountry.
The vestibule is another great feature if you ask me.
They manufacturers make an emphasis on the balance mechanism that this tent offers.
What is that?
It can hold heat if you really need it to or you can have a full view of the starry night sky since it has a no-see-um mesh roof.
The walls have been double coated with StormShield to ensure no rain will make its way into the tent – a great feature if you experience light rain during the night while the rain fly is off.
In addition to all of that, the flooring is bathtub-shaped and taped to protect the bottom of the tent against the rain.
It is also freestanding for a quick and easy setup.
The poke out vent in the wall gives you even more ventilation if you need it.
Pros
- Light enough for a backpacking trip into the wilderness
- Will keep the rain out even in heavy downfalls
- More volume than other 2 person tents, making it easier to house 2 people comfortably
- Double vestibule area to store all your gear during the night
- Holds up very well in high winds
Cons
- Not the best quality
- A little heavier than other backpacking tents
My Final Words
It isn’t the best backpacking tent on the market but it still gets the job done, and that’s why I’ve included it in this list.
There are SOME complaints about it but they are all minor, such as the tent only lasting a few months.
However, others are saying that it’s lasted years.
So my conclusion is: it will last long if you actually look after it.
And since it’s in a low price range, it makes a brilliant choice for seasonal backpackers.
My Final Rating
4. Eureka Midori 2 Tent – A backpacking tent that handles the elements extremely well
This backpacking tent contains 1 door but sleeps 2 people.
It is another tent that has the advanced V3 system. It provides much more ventilation, volume and end user versatility.
How is this done?
By maximizing the features of the tent body, rain fly, frame and guy-out design.
Due to the full coverage rain fly, it creates a vestibule room for more storage and great protection from the rain and wind.
Furthermore, the mesh walls mean you can take the fly off and stargaze the night away in the warmer months.
The 1 door that it offers is extremely large, so it’s much easier for people to get in and out.
The polyester rain fly has been coated with a strong UV-ray resistance. It will not stretch in the rain as a result of this coating.
Pros
- Very easy to set up due to the freestanding system
- The venting system is very well done – ensures no condensation will build up overnight
- The extra large door makes for great convenience
- 80% of the tents body is mesh, making it a lot lighter than if it was mostly fabric
- Very waterproof and can withstand strong wind conditions
Cons
- The stakes are a soft aluminium material and bend very easily
- A pole is attached to the rain fly, stopping it from being fully compressible
My Conclusion
The Eureka Midori 2 Tent is another viable option for backpacking in the wilderness.
Even though the stakes aren’t the best, they can be replaced if you want to camp where the terrain is hard.
Otherwise they still do the job on normal trips/environments.
The only other downside is that one of the poles is pre-attached to the rain fly, stopping you from being able to compress the tent down as much as possible.
My Final Rating
5. Eureka Apex Solo Tent – Best used for backpacking in the wild – can handle days of rain
This tent is extremely similar to the 2 person version but still slightly different.
It contains 1 door only and a massive vestibule area (14.8 Sq. Ft).
The rain fly and floor seams have been sealed from factory, meaning it is ready-to-go, straight out of the box.
The all-clip set up and freestanding design makes for easier and faster pitching, while the polyester rain fly is heavily protected from the suns UV-rays due to the amount of resistance it offers.
It will NOT stretch when wet.
There is also a mesh roof for great ventilation and a hooded fly that can be adjusted to fit perfectly for the current humidity/temperature.
This means you can leave it open to have great ventilation or closed to increase the temperature inside the tent.
Pros
- Just like all Eureka tents, amazingly waterproof
- A little more roomy than other 1 person tents
- The vestibule area has been described as “massive” by many users
- The ventilation is amazing on this tent. Condensation is virtually non-existent!
- It is very lightweight. Eureka has listed the minimum weight as 4 lbs, 3 oz
- Easily ranked in the same class as other backpacking tents that sell for 4-5x more
Cons
- The stakes are quite heavy, adding more pounds to the overall weight
- Can get a little chilly during the night
- A couple of users recommend using a tarp since the flooring material is thin
The Verdict
What a great solo tent, especially for the price!
Many users have fallen in love with this tent and keep coming back to purchase more since they are very high quality.
The stakes are a little heavy, but you can replace them with lighter ones if you wish cut a pound or 2 off the final weight.
But other than that, the cons are very minor.
A tarp is only needed depending on the terrain you’ll be camping in.
My Final Rating
6. Eureka Down Range Solo – 1 Person Tactical (TCOP) Tent – Best tent for protection against the elements
The Down Range Solo Tent has been described as “Paramilitary Tactical”.
It was originally made for the US military – TCOP, which means Tent Combat One Person.
But then something amazing happened…
Eureka finally made it available to the public, allowing ordinary people to gain the benefits that this amazing tent offers too.
It has a 2-pole system, 2 doors to get in and out, a full coverage Ripstop rain fly and a bathtub-shaped floor.
There is also a rain fly with a third pole (adds more stability against strong winds and space to the vestibule).
The aluminium poles are shockcorded and all seams are sealed from factory for even more protection against the rain.
What makes this tent even better?
The fact that the vestibule room has a FLOOR. Your gear is going to stay completely dry even during a harsh rainstorm.
They claim that this tent is the best for keeping you and your gear protected from the elements, as they make an emphasis on beating the harsh outdoor weather, and I can’t agree more!
Pros
- Performs incredibly well in the rain and wind – and even stops cold air from getting in!
- Contains more room than other 1 person tents
- Has great ventilation. There will be no condensation buildup inside this tent
- The vestibule area has a floor, giving your gear more protection than conventional vestibules
- Has been designed with very high quality/durable material, as mentioned by many users
Cons
- Not the most lightest backpacking tent (5 pounds)
- Anyone that is 6.5 feet can fit inside this tent, but will not have much wiggle room
Final Words
This tent is extremely high quality and durable.
You will easily get a few years out of this tent, minimum, taking into consideration that you’re actually looking after it of course.
A lot of buyers have found it to work exactly as advertised and I have no doubts that it does as well, which is why I included it in this list.
If you’re a little stumped by the weight of this tent, just remember that it isn’t actually designed to be ultra lightweight.
However, the major benefits that you will gain when you’re actually camping with it heavily outweigh that minor con.
My Final Rating
Final Words – Which Eureka Tent Is The Best?
If you’re a growing family, I highly recommend the Eureka Tetragon 8 Tent, as it has a room divider. Your kids can be in one room while you and your partner sleep in the other room!
The Eureka Taron Basecamp 6 Tent is a better choice for someone that enjoys glamping (glamorous camping).
However, my favorite tent to camp in when I’m going with a small group of friends is the EUREKA Copper Canyon 4 Person Tent.
These work great for small families too, but they are better with a group of friends since it’s so simple to set up and spacious enough to sit around and chat/laugh/drink beers – in the event that it rains.
My favorite 2 person tent for backpacking will have to be the Eureka Midori 2 Tent though, simply because it’s lighter than the Apex 2XT and made with higher quality materials.
However, the best 1 person tent from Eureka (in my honest opinion) is hands down Eureka Down Range Solo – 1 Person Tactical (TCOP) Tent.
Everything on this tent is so well done!
The stitching is perfect, the vestibule room has its own floor and it’s even roomy enough for taller people to benefit from too.
There is so many great features and protection from the elements that it’s just too good not to pass up.
Whatever choice you make, I know you’ll end up choosing a tent that’s going to keep you safe from the elements.
Because all of these tents work really well in harsh rain/wind conditions, which is the whole reason for a tent anyway, to protect you from the elements!
Yet some manufacturers STILL can’t get this simple formula correct 😛
These tents did take a long time to find and research, so please do me a favor and let me know if you enjoyed this article in the comment section below.
Cheers.
I appreciate the thorough review laid out here! Seems that you’ve tested these products yourself or know someone who did personally use each one. This will make my choice much easier! We have so many to choose from! Thank you for providing a clear guide for those who have little time, money and patience to just ‘find out’ the hard way that our choice was the wrong choice!
Lynne
Thanks, Lynne. I haven’t actually used these tent my self, but I do know that they perform incredibly well in the field, simply by gathering all the reviews and feedback that they have been given all around the internet and compiled them all together in this article.
I’m not one to praise tents even when they are bad. I’m one of the few honest ones 🙂 I totally agree with you as well. Choosing a tent at the last minute is a recipe for disaster. It’s best to get someone else’s opinion (like my reviews) to see if a tent is worth it or not BEFORE you go and buy it.
Happy to help.
Take care,
Brandon
Nice article! I recently started camping again just at the end of the season this past year. I must admit….I am more of the pop up camper kind of girl. Although it does seem like I’m cheating kinda. HAHA! I have come to terms with that. Do you have suggestions on the best sleeping bag?
Haha, yea. Pop up campers are more for the individuals who don’t like sleeping in a tent. And yea, actually I do. The Coleman Silverton Sleeping Bag is really affordable AND well worth the money!
Thanks for the comment,
Brandon
I’m always impressed when tents can accommodate tall people. Seems like tents usually aren’t built for us, but it’s good to know there are several out there.
Haha, Eric, at least I don’t have that problem. But of course, I have you guys covered 🙂 The EUREKA! Copper Canyon 4 – 4 Person Tent is 7 feet high! Making it extremely easy for tall people to stand up straight without having to lean over all the time. Not to mention the great ventilation that it provides as well.
Hope this helps.
-Brandon
Oh man, these are some really great looking tents! I’m really impressed with the variety on them when it comes to things like how many people each one is for and the protection against the elements.
I’ve got some friends and we like to do an annual float trip some time during the summer. I think one of the big ones, like maybe the Eureka Tetragon that can hold eight people would be good. Although, some of my friends are married, so perhaps they need to get their own tents, lol!
By the way, thanks for putting up those videos too. You’ve provided a lot of information that’s really nice! Thanks!
Hahaha, I chuckled when you said some of your friends are married so they will need their own tent. I think that would be a better option, but that is entirely up to you and by no means none of my business anyway, lol.
In all seriousness, I’m so glad you found my reviews of these Eureka tents helpful.
Good luck on your next annual float trip!
-Brandon
Hey mate, cheers for the article. My family and I regularly go on camping trips, however the tents we use are so old and were purchased when we were kids, so now we are starting to out grow them. They are currently looking for a tent now, so ill show them this article.
Thanks again
Well that doesn’t sound too good. I hope they get something decent enough for their future trips. Because having a bad tent out in the wilderness is a recipe for disaster. You can’t afford to risk your tent leaking or blowing over, ESPECIALLY when there’s kids involved.
Thanks for the comment!
-Brandon
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the great reviews. Our family camp out at an event we attend every year and I have to say the Eureka Tetragon 8 Tent would be perfect for our family for the size, and it’s perfect for the rain and wind which is great as we typically get rain and a lot of wind at the event. Thanks so much for the information 🙂
Hello Gaylene,
Well whatever you do, I hope you find a tent that fits you and whoever you are camping with.
Thanks for the comment.
-Brandon
Wow..Such great review on Eureka tents. I found the Eureka! Apex 2XT Two-Person Tent very appealing. We are in need of a new camping tent. You saved me from the confusion on which one to buy.
Oh yes, the Eureka Apex 2 Tent is really nice. Even though it isn’t the highest quality, it still performs like a charm.
Thank you!
-Brandon
Hey Brandon, thank you for the thorough review! As a father of three boys, camping is one of my family’s favorite activities to do. My wife and I like to backpack, and I happen to be over six feet tall, so it appears that the EUREKA! Copper Canyon 4 – 4 Person Tent is the only real choice for us out of this list.
Thanks again.
Cheers, Kameron 🙂 That’s great you found a tent that will make a great choice for you and your family. And yes, the Copper Canyon DOES DO great job at combating the elements. I can not recommend it enough for tall people!
Good luck,
Brandon
Vey informative Brandon, you’ve laid out the pros and cons nicely. Your site looks like a great resource for everything camping related. Will surely be stopping by before I hit the road this summer!
Thanks for the information,
Geoff
Thanks so much, Geoff. Always happy to help fellow campers 🙂
-Brandon
I used to camp ten years ago. It’s so fun and memorable. I really want to camp with my son now.
In my memory, the tents I used before were very simple. When I read your review, I feel they were totally outdated. The tents nowadays are more functional and look better. You make it easier to make a choice for choosing a tent and save me a plenty of time. Thank you so much.
By the way, do you have any other equipment related to camping?
I do, CT.
I review sleeping bags, air mattresses, camping fridges, knives, etc.
nice article! I’ve been looking for the right tent for a while, this was definitely useful to decide which one to go for! thank you
What tent did you decide was right for you? I’m interested to know 😀
Very Very thorough site. You have a lot of experience with camping and it shows. Thanks for not only showing the several different kinds of tents, but also the ones for under $100. Will help make my choice much easier.
Thank you Don. I’m happy to help fellow campers make the right purchase decision in anyway I can 🙂
Thanks for your help here. We’ve been looking for a tent that better accommodates tall people. Not for me, lol, my hubby is tall. Is there a sleeping bag you recommend for tall people too, or are they all about the same?
Thanks
Absolutely Melissa.
Here’s the tall tents and here’s the tall sleeping bags 😀
Thanks for the great article Brandon! This is going to save me a lot of time while choosing a tent for my family! I have seen articles similar the just try and push you towards tents without any real information behind them. Your thorough approach providing detailed information about these products is above and beyond and really helps those looking for tents make a decision!
Well those kind words mean a lot to me Zack. I wish you the happiest day my friend!
Hi there
I am going to have to check out the tetragonal 8. Love that room divider idea. I love camping but my hubs isn’t a great fan. Any ideas for a tent that is easy to set up comfy as possible while holding up to the elements for a family of 4? Would the Tetragon 8 be your best family tent overall? Thanks
Lots of good information, I particularly like the Eureka Midori 2 Tent. Provides all I need, and especially like the set-up being straightforward but also it being suitable for dealing with all weather conditions.
I also have an individual review on the Eureka Midori 2 Tent if you wish to know more.
