The Ultimate Guide to Tentsile Tree Tents

Posted on September 14, 2020September 14, 2020 by Matthew Swales

Imagine camping in the air at some of your favorite places on Earth! Imagine falling asleep in the trees of the Great Smokey Mountains! Imagine waking up above ground to the view of the Grand Tetons! If you are looking for a different kind of camping experience that will bring out the adventure enthusiast in you, then you are going to want to look into getting yourself a tree tent!

I am so excited to tell you about a company called Tentsile! Tentsile wants to give people a “special and unforgettable camping experience that you can’t get in a standard ground tent or hammock”. Tentsile doesn’t sell just any tents, they sell tree tents. In a way it’s like camping on a hammock on steroids! When I saw these tents, I couldn’t believe I had never heard about or seen these before. I’m looking at these tents and I am saying to myself, these could completely change a persons camping experiences. I immediately started thinking of places that I would love to use one these tree tents at. The possibilities were endless!

Why Choose a Tentsile Tree Tent?

Now before I start to talk about the different products that Tentsile has to offer, I would like to disclose that I am apart of Tentsile’s affiliate program. Meaning, I will get commissions for every purchase made using the various links throughout the article. I would like to also say that being in the affiliate program is not why I am writing this article. Tentsile’s products are extremely unique and definitely sparked my interest. One of the goals at Campingmastery.com is to make sure we can help people have new and great experiences while camping. Well, I have to say camping within the trees would definitely bring to the table a new camping experience.

One of the things I liked about Tentsile is their mission. Tentsile’s mission is to help fight deforestation. And how they are helping fight this cause is really quite creative… they are doing it by putting people in trees (Hence the tree tents) and if people are in trees, they won’t cut them down! For every tent purchased, Tentsile donates to plant 20 trees. They have also supported the planting of 365,000 trees located around the world! Tentsile tree tents are a great opportunity to expand your camping experiences by going tree tent camping and contributing to a good cause.

Tentsile Tree Tents

Tentsile has a variety of tree tents that offer the best of both worlds of a tent and a hammock! Every Tentsile tree tent uses their 3 point anchor system that pulls the floor of the tent to get tension and gives flex to ensure that you get a good nights sleep. These tree tents are also enclosed and can be used for camping in every season. They also have no-see-um mesh to keep the bugs out! Tentsile tree tents have an anti-roll strap system that makes separate sleeping bays that prevent you from rolling to the middle of the tent. What I think is most important is that these tree tents allow you to sleep anywhere and not have to worry about how the ground is! From my experiences, these tree tents could have been really useful when I was camping on BLM land out west. Let’s just say we had our tent set up on top of cacti (Which we didn’t realize) and needles in the foot are not any fun!

Safari Connect 2-Person Tree Tent

  • Capacity: 880lbs.
  • Unit Weight: 24.7lbs.
  • Packed Size: 25.5 x 13.8 x 13.8in.

  • Doors: 4 doors
  • Material: 70D PVC-coated nylon (rainfly) and 450D Dacron 300q/ sqm with webbing

The difference in the Safari Connect and the Connect two person tree tents are the size, weight, material, and price. The Safari also has a 8,000 hydrostatic head (HH) rainfly where the Connect has a 5,000 HH rainfly. Other than that, the tree tents are very similar! The $300 dollar difference is why I choose the Connect as my favorite couples tree tent instead of the Safari. I will say, if you need the extra space and extra rain protection, the Safari is the way to go.

Stingray 3-Person Tree Tent

  • Capacity: 880lbs.
  • Weight: 24.4lbs.

  • Doors: 3 door

The Stingray 3-person tree tent is my personal favorite! For the size and the fact that it can fit 3 people, in my mind this tree tent is the most bang for your buck! Its got 3 entrances, one for each person. It has a huge pocket in the middle as well as 3 underfloor storage nets and 3 internal corner storage pockets. With its stylish look makes it my favorite model! But don’t take my word for it… you are going to have to grab two friends and try it out for yourself.

  • Weight: 33.1lbs.

Just like the differences in the Safari Connect and Connect two person tents, there are some minor differences in the Safari Stingray and the Stingray 3-person tree tents. The major difference is the material they are made with. The Safari Stingray is made with more durable material that is tough and UV resistant. Another difference again is the price. For more durable material, you are going to end up paying more. It’s all in what your preferences are. In my opinion, you’ll make out just fine with the regular Stingray 3-person tree tent.

Camping Stacks

I didn’t think these tree tents could get any more wild, but somehow I was wrong! And for those that don’t know me, I do not like to admit that I was wrong. Not only can to you camp in the air with these tree tents, but you can stack them to create a skyscraper of tree tents! This gives you the chance to double or even triple your capacity and storage space, which is perfect for a family camping trip! Tentsile offers 3 stack options:

  • Ground
  • Classic
  • Ultimate

Ground Stack Option

The ground stack option gives you space for 6 people on your camping adventure. There are 2 levels! The first level will sit on the ground and is enclosed with a double bubble mesh, perfect for being a hangout area or just extra storage. The second level would be the tree tent itself.

Classic Stack Option

If you don’t want to be on the ground at all because you prefer living in the trees, then you will want to go with the classic stack option. Just like the ground option, the classic options allowed you to double your capacity by adding an additional level to your tree tent, but in this case both levels are in the air!

Ultimate Stack Option

If two levels weren’t enough for you (Because you think more is better), well there is another option. You can add 3 levels to your tree tenting experience with the ultimate stack option. The ultimate stack option allows you to triple your capacity to 9 people by adding 2 levels to your tree tent that are enclosed with a double bubble mesh and includes ladders to move between the levels! I mean you can literally create a “city” within the tress with this option.

Tips for your Tree Tents

  • Set up your tree tent at a safe distance. The recommended distance is 4ft. in the air.
  • Make sure the trees are strong and stable enough to hold the tree tent before setting it up.
  • Make sure if you are camping at a national forest, state forest, national park, state park, or any land that isn’t yours that it is okay to hang the tree tents up. Some areas have strict guidelines on hammocks and things hanging from trees.
  • When climbing in and out of the tree tents make sure that you do not have any sharp objects poking through your pants or shorts that could damage the tent.
  • If you plan on leaving your tree tent up for a while, you should limit it to a maximum of 3 months. Having it left outside for more than that at a time could cause weather damage plus wear and tear.
  • If you need additional parts if something breaks, Tentsile sells spare parts as well as other accessories for your tree tents.

Conclusion

Overall, these tree tents are a great option for campers that want a new experience or want to change up their camping routine. They are externally durable and come in a variety of different options. Really the only downside about these tents is the price. Other than that these tents are an awesome idea and I’m glad I could share them with you!
