Eureka Midori 2 Tent Review

Due to the large amount of bad tents on the market, there’s a high chance the manufacturers aren’t being as honest with their tents as much as they should be.

Why is this?

For the simple fact that they KNOW their tents aren’t the best but they will still try and sell it with all these outrageous claims.

But of course, the claims fail to deliver.

This is my Eureka Midori 2 Tent review, and in this article I’m going to debunk all the feedback this tent has been given over the years and compile everything I find about it in this post.

It has mostly been described as a backpacking tent and can sleep 2 people, maximum.

It contains an advanced V3 system. The V3 system enhances the livability for the tent, providing the best ventilation, volume, and even end-user versatility. They do it by maximizing all the features, such as: tent body, fly, frame, and guy-out design.

The rain fly stretches all the way out – creating a “vestibule” room to hold your gear. Furthermore, the vestibule area makes it easier for the rain to stay out.

Because the fly has good UV-ray resistance, it doesn’t get damaged by the sun, nor does it stretch/rip in wet-weather conditions.

This tent contains a freestanding design and shockcorded aluminum poles with an all-clip feature as well. All of this makes it much easier to set the tent up and take down.

It also offers FULL mesh walls for awesome ventilation. However, if you decide to leave the rain fly off during the summer time, your view of the night sky is very limited, due to the panel at the very center of the ceiling blocking your view.

There is a hooded fly “vent” located at the top of this tent too. It is fully adjustable, giving you the option to have cold air coming in to the tent. Otherwise you can close it and keep warm air coming in.

• Gear Loft – A gear loft is included in the purchase as well. This is completely free; while it measures at 25″ x 12″

• Advanced Guy Points – Due to the V3 system, there are external guy points on the rain fly, making it much more secure and capable of handling high winds a lot easier

What I Like

I like the strut poles that is used to increase the floor space of the vestibule area.

The double wall construction was also one of those features that caught my eye. You don’t find this typical design on many tents, making it very close to a 3+ season tent!

What I Don’t Like

The panel that’s in the center of the ceiling blocks about 50% of your sky view when your remove the rain fly, making your stargazing opportunities very limited.

Who Should Buy This Tent?

If you’re an avid backpacker, I have no doubts that you’ll enjoy all the benefits that this tent has to offer.

Even a user that was 6’1″ and 300 lbs was able to fit inside this tent. There was also enough room for someone else to go in it as well.

So if you’re that size or under, then you’ll most likely find this tent to work for you too.

Do I Recommend This Tent?

Due to the high amount of pros I found for the Eureka Midori 2 Tent, and for the simple fact that it performs a lot better than other tents in the same price range, I would have give it an easy YES!

Even though there are some cons, they are really minor and they do not interfere with how well it performs in the wilderness, as it combats heavy rain and strong winds extremely well.

The Eureka Midori 2 Tent is highly recommended!

Alternative Tent

There’s a tent with better stakes if you find that these ones will be no good for you, especially if you plan on camping in areas that contain hard ground. It is much cheaper but also has weaker flooring material, while it’s also heavier and more recommended for car camping. Check out my review on the ALPS Mountaineering Taurus 2 Tent.

If you want a tent that offers better stargazing opportunities, the Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Tent has all-mesh walls and a mesh ceiling as well. Even though the vestibule area isn’t as big, there’s still enough space available for 2 backpacks and boots.

My Final Opinion

I like what the Eureka Midori 2 Tent has to offer.

It contains a bunch of extra features that you won’t find on many other tents, such as the V3 enhancing system and the strut poles.

Some of you probably won like the strut poles, especially if you want to compact the tent down as much as possible. However, due to this feature, the vestibule room is 9.7 Sq. ft and provides more than enough room for 2 peoples gear.

The cons are extremely minor and the entire tent performs tremendously well in a rain storm.

For those reasons, and all the others that I have mentioned throughout this review, I’m going to give the Eureka Midori 2 Tent a BIG THUMBS UP!
