So I got the honor of staying at the Christchurch TOP 10 Holiday Park for 5 nights and wanted to document my experience and how I felt about my stay there.
I was hesitant about writing this review because I did not see many tent campers, however, there’s certainly a lot of campers staying in RV’s, cars and vans.
And because I know I have a wide audience, I know at least someone will find this useful, so here goes 🙂
High value for money
Summary:
Easy to check in and out, clean and tidy throughout, amazing receptionists and the ultimate convenience.
Everything I needed was nearby and I loved it. Even the second largest mall in the South Island is only a 10 minute walk away!

Where I Stayed
I rented a little one-room cabin for the night, which was $65 per night, $325 total.
I did not want anything flash or luxurious, just something I could go back to and relax after a long day of exploring the wonderful Christchurch city.
The room I stayed in was only 4 meters long and 3 meters wide (give or take), contained a single bed and double bed and was more than enough room for myself.
Although it is definitely enough space for 2 people, it may be a little cramped for 2 but that depends on how much you enjoy your space and alone time.
What My Tiny Cabin Offered
I was surprised at how much there was to offer for such a little room!
What my cabin offered:
- Free unlimited WiFi (good connection, not great)
- An electric fan heater (free and extremely warm)
- Single bed
- Double bed
- Wall mirror
- Cutlery
- Pots, plates and pans
- Jug boiler
- Cups
- Mini refrigerator
- Table and chairs
- Bench for preparing food
- Bedside table
They are the basics but definitely better than I expected if I say so myself.
For $65 bucks I thought I was getting a bed and heating, and that was it (lol).
First impressions is highly important, and Christchurch TOP 10 Holiday Park sure know how to impress!
The Receptionists/Customer Service
Kind, kind and did I say kind and helpful?
Did I tell you they leave you alone for the duration of your stay and leave you alone at all times?
Just go and ask what you need and they’ll help you if you need anything.
It’s as simple as that.
There are also snacks and all that jazz if you happen to run out of food and want something quick and yummy (plus wine and beer).
The Atmosphere
The entire time I was at TOP 10 there was lots of quietness, peace and a very relaxing vibe.
Everyone was quiet and kept to themselves, there was no one being too loud and once it was nighttime it felt like I was sleeping in the woods.
Really…it was THAT quiet, it was almost unbelievable actually.
This allows you to actually enjoy your stay and more importantly, your sleep.
Laundry and Kitchen
Of course I had the basics in my room but I still had to cook my food and whatnot.
If I had my own microwave I probably would’ve only needed the kitchen to wash my dishes, however sadly, I traveled via plane so I had the bare minimum.
The kitchen was literally 20 meters away from my cabin so I didn’t have any need for my own microwave anyway.
The kitchen was huge – had multiple microwaves, ovens, stoves and even an area for eating!
The laundry was next to the kitchen and offered multiple washing machines and dryers.
My favorite perk about the kitchen was the vending machine, which was located at the front and outside.
Why is it that good you ask, well…it can be 2 a.m. and if you need to quench your first, walk 10-20 meters from your cabin, grab a nice cold beverage and you’re away laughing.
Well…I was, that’s how happy I was that I literally had everything I needed, all at an arms reach.
Shower and Toilets
Right behind the kitchen and laundry area was the showers and toilets.
Nothing too amazing but definitely not bad either, just right and offers exactly what you need.
There were 3 toilets and 3 showers.
I do wish the showers were a little bit better though, as 1 out of 3 were good and the other 2 didn’t have much of a spread.
I might be nit-picking here, so take that with a grain of salt if you will 🙂
Cleanliness
The amount of cleanliness absolutely blew me away.
My room was clean when I got there, showers and toilets are absolutely amazing and I don’t even have to say anything about the kitchen.
Everyone cleans up after themselves and everything is always spotless…always.
I never had any complaints about anything being dirty and the reason why I give cleanliness a 10/10.
Bonuses
You are literally 10 minutes (walking distance) from the second largest mall in the South Island and 2 great supermarkets!
This is good for when you first arrive at the holiday park and want some quick groceries.
The park provides a hot tub, playground, go-karts, a heated swimming pool, a lounge, an arcade (although nothing amazing), a giant chess and even a drive-thru check in!
Final Thoughts
Everything seemed so perfect while I was staying at the TOP 10.
Convenience was at an all time high and I didn’t have to move very far to get what I wanted.
I absolutely loved staying at the Christchurch TOP 10 Holiday Park and wouldn’t hesitate staying again.
Although the next time I stay I’ll hopefully have my own camper, then I can update this review with an RV campers point of view 😀
Well thanks for reading my Christchurch TOP 10 Holiday Park review.
