Should you even bother with this tent or just move on to another one?
I love camping in the great outdoors, however I don’t like getting a tent that’s low quality or going to leak through the entire night.
This is my honest Coleman WeatherMaster 10 Person Tent review, and I will be finding out whether it is any good and high quality as the manufacturers claim it to be, but most of all – is it worth the price?
I will now begin my review, research everything regarding this tent, then write down my findings below.
Let’s begin 🙂
Quick Overview
There isn’t much information around the internet that says much about this tent.
But I will do my best to find as much as possible.
This tent is similar to the 6 person version (although not recommended), but it is actually designed to fit 10 people, while the manufacturers are claiming to “easily” house 10 people comfortably.
The tents material is made up of durable TC fabric.
It also includes a Waterproof WeatherTec System, and the dimensions are: 7L x 9W x 6.66H feet.
You will find a patented hinged door located on this tent, it is D-shaped and makes it easier for people to walk in and out.
Furthermore, the center height is at 6 feet, 8 inches, allowing anyone shorter than that to stand and move around freely.
The Coleman WeatherMaster 10 Person Tent does fit 3 queen-sized air mattresses, while many people have said this is true.
It contains color-coded poles, allowing for easier and faster pitching. I can also see that it has a mesh roof, this is so you can take the rain fly off and have a full view of the night sky (but for the dry nights of course).
This tent includes welded floors and inverted seams to prevent the rain from entering even more.
Is This Tent Unique?
The manufacturers of this tent are really ensuring it’s going to stay waterproof, especially because of the welded flooring along with the inverted seams.
I also like how it’s a 10 person tent but still being in a great price range too.
The price was also something that caught my eye, being less than $200 makes it a bargain.
However the questions still remain, is it actually weatherproof and going to stand in strong winds?

Who This Tent Is For
It is a tent designed for 10 people, so it works great for a family of car campers or group of friends.
Although, if you wish to be comfortable inside this tent, I would recommend 6-7 people or less, otherwise it just gets too squishy.
But this is entirely up to you.
Just keep in mind that if you decide to sleep 10 people inside this tent, there will be no room for everyone’s gear.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Doesn’t actually take long to pitch. This can be done within 15 minutes with some help and a little practice. And because the instructions are really clear, it’s even easy for newbies to pitch as well
- It’s packed with features that maximize convenience, one of my favorite is the room divider that comes with it, creating additional rooms for the best privacy
- You can also Velcro straps for the main door to make it easier to walk “in and out” throughout the day, then just zip them up at night time
- It has been found to stand up in strong gusts of wind, this was from campers that have personally used this tent more than once and have found it to work as as promised
Cons
- A common complaint about the tent not fitting back into its carry bag
- The zippers have been said that they aren’t the greatest, and are likely to bind up
- A few issues with the waterproofing abilities, it isn’t exactly top notch
Do I Recommend This Tent?
If you are camping where there’s going to be absolutely NO rain, then this is a great choice and definitely for you.
Here’s why:
The cons are extremely minor, I wouldn’t let them get in the way of my purchase, other than the waterproof con – I will get into more of that below.
There ARE some complaints about the zippers not being the best, but that’s with most tents anyway.
I’ve camped for many years, and I have come to the conclusion that if you don’t yank on them like a gorilla then they will work fine, with no malfunctions happening.
There are also a lot of people mentioning that the tent will not fit back into its carry case, if they don’t rush it and actually take their time to sort it all out properly, everything’s going to fit exactly how it did before.
So what’s my issue?
I have 1 problem with this tent, and it’s that almost everyone who purchased it is using seam sealer or another sort of weatherproofing method.
And the ones that didn’t seam seal it first are going through bad experiences with the tent.
The rain is leaking through the fabric/seams and getting everything soaked.
That’s the exact same issue with the 6 person version of this tent, however that one is really not recommended (for other reasons too), at least this 10 person tent is worth considering.
It works really well in dry weather, simply because of all the reasons outlined above, along with the pros I have mentioned.
But if you don’t want to seam seal it first, then it isn’t for you.
However, if you choose to seam seal it before taking it out, then it will work great for you and you will experience all the benefits that it has to offer!
The Coleman WeatherMaster 10 Person Tent is highly recommended if you seam seal it first!
Alternative/Similar Products
If you aren’t an avid camper, or you are just too lazy to seam seal it first (don’t worry, there are a lot of us like that), 😛 there are still some great alternatives you can choose from.
The Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent is ready to go as soon as it arrives, simply because it already works great in harsh weather and the rain, AND it’s much more spacious. The only downside – it’s a little more expensive.
One other tent that’s worth considering is the Coleman 8 Person Instant Tent. This can can be pitched in literally 2 minutes (yes, I’m serious).
It also has 2 room dividers and does a great job fighting against the elements. This tent is a little more expensive than the WeatherMaster 10, but less than the Core 12.
My Final Opinion
The Coleman WeatherMaster 10 Person Tent performs “good”, but much better if you seam seal it first.
That’s the only downside I have with this tent.
Otherwise, I find that it works incredibly well, stands up in strong winds, and has a lot of room to house a big family for a summer outdoor adventure.
If that sounds like you, and you will be weatherproofing it first, then I have no doubts that it will work just as good for you too.
