Is The Coleman White Water Sleeping Bag Low Or High Quality?

Posted on December 5, 2016 by Brandon

Some of you may or may not know, I have been camping/exploring the great outdoors for years. However, not all equipment you come across is the best or going to get the job done as good as the manufacturers are claiming it to.

In this Coleman White Water Sleeping Bag review, you will see me thoroughly research this product and then provide my honest opinion on it. Is it any good and going to work as intended?

Well, let’s see if this product is truly THAT good.

coleman-white-water-sleeping-bag

Product Overview

This sleeping bag has been described of being one to work in cold-weather. It measures 39-Inch wide and 84-Inch long and will fit most people, up to a height limit of 6 feet 4 inches.

Due to the unique scooped-shape head rest, you can get a very comfortable sleep. It keeps your head and pillow off the ground.

This sleeping bag has been designed with a durable polyester material, in addition to a cotton flannel liner.

And 4 pounds of ColeTherm insulation to help keep you warm, down to approximately 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit.

This also features a Quickcord storage, meaning you will NOT have to tie it up when storing it away. This sleeping bag contains a ZipPlow feature, it help keeps the zip away from the fabric and prevents snagging.

Some other great features that this product provides:

  • The Comfort Cuff keeps your head and face area surrounded with softness
  • FiberLock stops the insulation material from moving so you stay warm (this also increases durability)
  • The ThermoLock helps keep the heat inside the sleeping bag, stopping it from escaping through the zipper
  • There is a Zipper Glide feature too, so zipping around corners will stay a smooth operation
  • Roll Control feature locks the bag in place. This makes in incredibly easy for you to roll the sleeping bag up

What Makes This Sleeping Bag Unique?

The manufacturers are emphasizing comfortability, warmth, and claiming it to be feature-packed.

They have really gone the extra mile to ensure their sleeping bag is going to keep you warm in cold weather and going to keep you comfortable no matter what sleeping conditions you’re in.

Whether that be on a sleeping pad, air mattress, or cot, I can clearly see that this product will get the job done without any problems.

What Are Its Specifications?

Who It’s For

I would say that this sleeping bag is perfect for car campers and/or motorbike campers.

It is a little too heavy for hiking or backpacking, but would still be viable if you’re got some experience in this field.

The height limit is 6 feet 4 inches, so if you’re less than that, this sleeping bag will make a great fit for you.

And yes, it will fit both male and female.

Pros and Cons

Prosman-holding-coleman-white-water-sleeping-bag

  • A large number of features that many other sleeping bags in this price range don’t offer. All of them make the sleeping bag stand out from its competitors
  • Can keep you warm in very cold-weather conditions, a rare find for a sleeping bag of this price
  • Made with high quality polyester and filled with 100% cotton, while the FiberLock feature keeps the insulation in place – extending the life of the sleeping bag and keeping the heat even throughout
  • The manufacturers have made a huge emphasis on comfort and attention-to-detail

Cons

  • Too bulky for backpacking and overnight hiking
  • Doesn’t come with a storage sack
  • A few complaints about the lining not being as comfortable as the manufacturers are claiming it to be
  • There is no drawstring

Alternative/Similar Products

If you want a sleeping bag that actually comes with a stuff sack an is well-insulated enough to camp in cold temperatures, although it is a little more expensive – check out my review on the Kelty Tuck 22 Degree Sleeping Bag.

Or if you want something similar in price range, the zippers aren’t as great, BUT it does come with a stuff sack and happens to be mummy-shaped if that’s more of what you are into, then you should read my review on the Suisse Sport Alpine Sleeping Bag.

Do I Recommend The Coleman White Water Sleeping Bag?

Actually, yes I do.

For the price, you can’t go wrong. It is packed with many features that I haven’t seen in any sleeping bags yet.

That was something that caught me by surprise the most, the amount of features that it provides, along with the comfortability and how easily it will keep you warm even in cold temperatures.

That is hard to find in a sleeping bag of this price.

And since the cons aren’t extremely important, the pros and benefits still outweigh them.

Yes, this sleeping bag is highly recommended.

My Final Opinion

There’s some complaints about the liner not being comfortable as they claim it to be, I don’t know why they have complained about this, but there are a lot more people praising this sleeping bag and giving it nothing but nice feedback for it.

I would say that their expectations are too high, when you purchase a $40 to $60 sleeping bag (which IS capable of being used in colder temperatures), you should expect it to be good enough – and it clearly is.

It is in an incredible price range, although it will probably won’t last you many years (unless you’re a seasonal camper), it is still better than a lot of other sleeping bags in this price range.

It is feature-packed and gets the job done – remarkably. Why people have given this product bad feedback is beyond me!

Anyway, let’s conclude this review.

Should you purchase this sleeping bag or not? Absolutely!

It has held a solid 4.3 star rating and shows no signs of going down, while there are hundreds, possibly even thousands of people who have found this product to work as intended, I have no hesitations in recommending it to you.

However, if you want to use it for backpacking or an overnight hiking mission, it may not be the best choice. It would be too bulky and will probably take up too much space in your backpack.

Other than that, because of all the reasons I have mentioned in this article, and simply because I KNOW you’ll enjoy the benefits that this affordable sleeping bag has to offer in no time, I am going to say the Coleman White Water Sleeping Bag is highly recommended!
