What Is The Suisse Sport Sleeping Bag?

This sleeping bag is designed for extreme colder weather conditions such as winter, if you’re looking for a warm weather, comfortable sleeping bag you should check out this one. Otherwise if you want a Suisse Sport Alpine sleeping bag review then keep reading.

This bag is a good temperature range to sleep in at 20-40 degrees, however it can go as low as -15 degrees Celsius if you plan on going mountain climbing, camping, hiking this bag is ideal for the cold conditions.

Breaking The Temperature Myths

If you have a tent or other cover from wind and rain then this bag can keep you well-insulated to temperatures down to -15 degrees Celsius.

However, if you’re without shelter and nothing to sleep on to keep the ground from sucking the warmth from you, then the bag will not keep you warm at those temperatures, although if you decide to go this route – you can comfortably sleep well and warm at -6C to +16C.

Would I Try This Bag?

I’m an avid camper in all 4 seasons and a hiker in the summer time only. I have tried this bag and only recommend it for winter camping and really cold temperatures.

This bag is no good for warmer temperatures – too heavy, and will keep you too hot the whole night. Out of all the 0 degree sleeping bags that I’ve tried this is hands down my favorite.

suisse sport sleeping bag

Pros

  • Surprisingly lightweight for a winter camping bag
  • Perfect for -15 Degrees Celsius (considering you have a shelter and an adequate sleeping pad)
  • Tested on my step-dad. Roomy, even for someone 6’2″ and 220 lbs+
  • Mummy-shaped bag with a torso drawstring, which helps you keep warm in lower temperatures
  • Easily compressible
  • Definitely worth more than the price you way

Cons

  • Only available in 1 color 🙁 Sorry, no pink ones for the ladies
  • Common for the zipper to break

Who Is The Bag Right For?

I would recommend this bag for anyone under 6’5″ and less than 250 lbs. If you’re over this mark then I wouldn’t bother, as it would just be too small and difficult to move around and get in and out with.

This sleeping bag has also been known to be a perfect fit for kids, so if you don’t fit in this sleeping bag you can always pass it down a generation.

How To Use This Sleeping Bag

If you know temperatures are going to drop well below 0 then take a tent and shelter.

If you go hiking in the Alps I would recommend you take a tent and pad – If not you will freeze the whole night.

If you decide not to take extra shelter and ground cover, you’ll be fine as long as the temperature is around 20-40 F.

How NOT To Use This Bag

If you know that temperatures are going to be below 0 and extremely cold, but you refuse to take a tent for shelter and a pad to keep safe from the cold ground then you’re in for a bad experience.

Water Resistant?

Surprisingly yes. I had a bad experience one night when the rain got into our tent and I had a small puddle underneath me – to our surprise, the bag repelled the water without getting inside of the sleeping bag.

Is It Comfortable?

I found that it is super comfortable, and even better with a decent sleeping pad. I would definitely buy this product again.

Conclusion – Is It Worth Getting?

Taking into consideration that you use this bag responsibly. If you know what the temperature is going to be or you expect some harsh cold mornings then be prepared for it, and take additional shelter.

But last but not least, and most importantly – Is it worth the money? I would answer yes.

Would I purchase this bag again? Yes. For all the reasons outlined above and for the minimum amount of cons that I found – The Suisse Sport Alpine Sleeping Bag is highly recommended!
