Best Tent for Tall People

The Best 6-Foot Tall Tents for 2020

Posted on April 23, 2018February 12, 2020 by Brandon

Last modified on February 12th, 2020

There’s nothing worse than being a tall person that simply cannot stand up in his or her tent in the great outdoors.

As many of you may know, I am not tall but I have tall friends and family that won’t go camping UNLESS they have a good sized tent.

In this article I hope to help all you tall individuals find a great tent that you can fit in comfortably without breaking the bank.

The Best 6-Foot Tall Tents

1. Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Tent

Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent

The Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Tent is one of the best 4-person tents I’ve come across thus far.

It may weigh a lot but it stands like a brick house, and I’m not even exaggerating.

It withstands heavy snowfall, fierce winds and torrential rain without a problem.

Even though it looks like a technical tent, it can be pitched in a mere 5-20 minutes depending on your outdoor skills and comes complete with everything you need to tackle the elements.

It still holds a solid 5-star rating on Amazon, and that’s no accident my friend.

It truly is a magnificent tent that guarantees you a comfortable and dry shelter.

Some more features include:

  • Awning for sitting out of the rain, snow or sun
  • #10 YKK heavy-duty zippers which extend the life of the tent and make for ease of use every time
  • Vertical walls for enhanced livability
  • Multiple venting options

Item Weight – 79 pounds

Floor Size – 10 x 14 feet

Center Height – 6.6 feet

Packed Dimensions – 30 x 16 inches (tent) & 48 x 5.5 inches (poles)

2. Kelty Trail Ridge 6 Tent

Kelty Trail Ridge 6 Tent

The reason the Kelty Trail Ridge 6 Tent made my list was the simple fact that it stands true to the massive claims the manufacturers promise.

This tent also has upright walls for living easier along with 2 massive doors for extra convenience.

It is surprisingly quick to setup and can be pitched in 5 minutes flat.

It’s proven to stand strong in high wind conditions, hold out torrential rain and includes heavy duty stakes and taped seams, making it ready-to-go as soon as it arrives.

Some more features include:

  • Great cross-flow ventilation abilities
  • Stargazing opportunities and panoramic views thanks to the mesh walls and ceiling
  • Interior storage pockets for keeping your valuables safe
  • Noiseless zipper pulls
  • Nightlight pocket

Item weight – 15.10 pounds

Floor Size – 10 x 8.1 feet

Center Height – 6 feet

Packed Dimensions – 27 x 8 x 8 inches

3. CORE 6 Person Instant Cabin Tent

core-6-person-instant-cabin-tent

I’ve been a big fan of the Core 6 Instant Cabin tent for very a long time now, and there’s a good reason why.

The simplicity of this tent and how much it protects you from the elements is what makes it stand out from the crowd.

It has zipper problems but that’s literally the only con I could find for it, meaning everyone else has nothing but nice things to say about the CORE 6.

It’s incredibly spacious, has waterproof technology to resist torrential rain and does a great job at combating strong winds.

What it offers, the price and the quality make purchasing this tent a no-brainer if you ask me!

Some more features include:

  • 60-second instant setup
  • Advanced waterproofing technology offers the best water run-off
  • Adjustable venting system makes for a comfortable living area no matter the conditions are
  • Extra large door make for easier entry/exit
  • Spacious interior
  • Hook for hanging a flashlight or lantern

Item Weight – 22.8 pounds

Floor Size – 11 x 9 feet

Center Height – 6 feet

Packed Dimensions – 8.5 x 8.5 x 48 inches

4. Coleman Elite WeatherMaster Tent

coleman-elite-weathermaster-tent

This tent is more preferred for Glampers (glamorous campers)…basically…for anyone who wants a little luxury in the great outdoors.

It has a massive 6.8 feet center height, a large interior space and even a screen room for sitting out of the rain while staying protected from bugs.

There consists a large D-door (hinged), much like what you’d use at home, a lighting system and even self rolling windows!

The Coleman Elite WeatherMaster Tent is absolutely packed with many features other tents don’t offer and the reason why it’s made this list.

Some more features include:

  • Wall switch for turning the lighting system on and off (3 modes – high, low, night light)
  • Stargazing views
  • Zippered electrical access port
  • Welcome mat for cleaning muddy boots

Item Weight – 41.6 pounds

Floor Size – 11 ft x 9 feet with 9 x 6 feet screen room

Center Height – 6.8 feet

Packed Dimensions – 9 x 15 x 45.5 inches

5. Eureka Copper Canyon 6 Tent

Eureka Copper Canyon 6 Tent

This tent is probably the worst out of all mentioned above, however, the 7 foot center height MADE me do it!

The cons – weak floor and poor construction, but it does only require one person to pitch, it’s very spacious and has tremendous waterproofing.

It is also packed with a large number of useful features.

My favorite are the mesh roof for stargazing, 4 large windows and massive door for ultimate convenience.

It’s also known to stand strong in high winds

Some more features:

  • Vertical walls – creates an easy living area
  • 7 foot peak height means everyone can stand and walk around comfortably
  • Simple setup – can be pitched in an easy 5 minutes
  • 2 interior storage pockets allow you to keep valuables close at hand
  • Electrical port

Item Weight – 25 pounds

Floor Size – 10 x 10 feet

Center Height – 7 feet

Packed Dimensions – 8 x 26 inches

I guess this is where I tell you which tent I recommend.

Well the Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Tent is for those on a high budget and want the absolute best, because it really does offer beastly weatherproofing skills.

However, next in line is hands down the Kelty Trail Ridge 6, as it still has a tall center height and vertical walls for extra livability, plus it’s a lot cheaper of course.

Well that’s all folks and I hope you find a 6-foot tall tent you enjoy 🙂

If not, talk to me in the comments below! Lets get a dialogue going.

Cheers!

-Brandon

    Hey Brandon,

I can tell by the detail put into your explanations of the tents presented, that you have an understanding of what a camper would want from a tent they are interested in to buy. I had no idea how advanced tents have become, but i guess it should be expected as time continues to progress. Continue on with the quality content!!! 🙂

Hello, Brandon, The reviews of tents are very informative, and well done, if I had to choose from the five models tent, I will probably be tempted by the core 6 instant cabin tent. But I see there is a zipper problem, what is the cause of the zipper issue? can this problem be fixed? otherwise, I liked very much the feature on it, the 60-second instant setup, I liked also all the description you give with all the details, the presentation, and the pictures are inspiring you to go on vacation.
    Thank you so much.
    Jacqueline

The cause is the storm flap. The zipper almost always gets caught on it, and no you can’t really fix this issue…sadly. You have to tolerate it or learn to use the zipper more carefully.

So glad I found this post. I happen to be a tall guy and get tired of bending over when camping. I never really knew that they had taller tents for us guys who want to stand upright! I like the way you showed all these choices of tents that are out there. I am going to have the wife look at these and perhaps make a purchase later.

Sure there are tents for people like you Clyde. There are more than enough out there, just not enough people like me showcasing what’s available to you! Lol, I hope your wife finds a tent you both like 🙂
