Top 5 Grizzly Sleeping Bags

Posted on November 24, 2017 by Brandon

I’ve been a huge fan of Grizzly sleeping bags for a long time now.

However, when I searched online a few months ago to find the best one there was no one giving their unbiased opinion.

Well here I am providing some of the best ones I could find.

I’ve used a couple, but the one I truly enjoy is #1

It’s because it is so warm and comfortable.

But enough of my ranting – lets get right into it 🙂

The Top 5 Grizzly Sleeping Bags

1. Grizzly Sleeping Bag – Canvas/Black (-50 Degrees F)

Grizzly Sleeping Bag - CanvasBlack (-50 Degrees F)

This Grizzly bag is available in black with a canvas fabric. It is rated -50 Degrees Fahrenheit, making it PERFECT for mountaineering and winter camping.

It features a durable cotton shell and two-layer offset construction.

The comfort comes from the built-in hood, flannel lining and microfiber insulation.

It is absolutely packed with features and one of the warmest Grizzly bags, which is why I’ve placed it in the #1 spot.

Some more features include:

  • Microfiber insulation for immense warmth
  • Extra large draft tubes to eliminate breezes
  • Chest baffles – stops insulation from shifting
  • Flannel lining, which is extremely comfortable
  • Heavy-duty zippers

Item Weight – 12.5 pounds

Width (zipped up) – 3.3 feet

Length – 7.5 feet

2. Grizzly Sleeping Bag – Canvas/Brown (0 Degrees F)

Grizzly Sleeping Bag - CanvasBrown (0 Degrees F)

The Brown Canvas bag from Grizzly is rated 0 Degrees Fahrenheit.

The superior insulation VS the price is how it landed at #2.

It is also roomy and packed with many great features.

The two-layer construction means the seams are NOT overlapped. This stops cold spots from arising.

The flannel lining, chest baffles and built-in hood add to the comfort rating.

It weighs 10.5 pounds so it’s not exactly “backpack ready” – however, it does keep you warm in normal winter conditions.

Basically, it’s the perfect choice for cold conditions at a great price.

Some more features include:

  • Big draft tubes that act as barriers against cold air
  • Roomy interior, which is good for big people
  • Chest baffles (keeps the bag close to the body, ensuring heat circulates properly)
  • Built-in hood – large enough to hold a pillow

Item weight – 10.5 pounds

Width (zipped up) – 3.3 feet

Length – 7.5 feet

3. Grizzly Sleeping Bag – Ripstop/Tan (+25 Degrees F)

Grizzly Sleeping Bag - RipstopTan (+25 Degrees F)

So, still very warm, the +25 Degree F sleeping bag is for cool weather camping.

It is way too hot for summer camping but geared best for Fall, Spring and even minor winter conditions.

It has the same features as the other bags mentioned above.

However, it has less fill which is why it weighs less and keeps you less warm.

But that doesn’t stop it from being highly durable and warm in cool weather only, especially for the price!

Some more features include:

  • Flannel lining
  • Big, heavy-duty MAX double zippers
  • Hood
  • Chest baffles
  • Draft tube

Item Weight – 7.2 pounds

Width (zipped up) – 3.3 feet

Length – 7.5 feet

4. Grizzly 2-Person Sleeping Bag – Canvas/Blue (-25 Degrees F)

Grizzly 2-Person Sleeping Bag - CanvasBlue (-25 Degrees F)

So you will now notice that I have chosen a DOUBLE sleeping bag.

This is for the simple reason that many couples like to stay warm and comfortable with their partners in the outdoors.

Sadly the lowest rating for the double bag is -25 Degrees F.

However, I find that two people in one sleeping bag maximizes heat while keeping everybody warm, even when battling mountain and extreme weather conditions!

So YES, this bag can be used for that too!

Some more features include:

  • Double design for camping couples
  • Cotton duck canvas shell (very durable)
  • Super-large windstop walls
  • Thick chest baffles

Item Weight – 14.5 pounds

Width (zipped up) – 5.4 feet

Length – 7.5 feet

5. Grizzly Cub 4-Season Sleeping Bag

Grizzly Cub 4 Season Sleeping Bag

So the Grizzly Cub 4-Season Sleeping Bag is very different from the “Grizzly by Black Pine” bags.

However, I just had to include it in this list because of the affordable price, warmth, and much lighter weight.

it’s not as big but it is definitely backpack-friendly.

It weighs 5.1 Pounds and packs down to mere 18 x 10 inches.

The temperature rating is 0 Degrees F, so it easily fits the bill for a 4-season bag.

The only downside is that it’s designed for kids and short adults – up to 5 ft. 6 inches in fact.

Some more features include:

  • Pillow area with drawstring
  • 2-inch baffle along zippers
  • Chest and neck guard to combat breeze
  • Double zippers
  • Natural, soft cotton lining
  • Polyester, water-resistant ripstop material

Item Weight – 5.1 Pounds

Width (zipped up) – 2.5 feet

Length – 6.25 feet

Packed Dimensions – 18 x 10 inches

The only major issue with these sleeping bags is the heavy weight.

But guess what?

Grizzly do not specialize in backpacking sleeping bags anyway.

They actually care more about providing a warm and comfortable bag that you can climb into at the end of the day and doze off, and sleep like a baby.

They are heavy because they are made for camping only, and they definitely do know how to create high quality sleeping bags.

Grizzly bags are actually my go-to bags for camping, and that’s because I enjoy my space in the outdoors.

And if you do too, you will enjoy 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Number 5 is really for people that want a viable backpacking option.

Now if you want my #1 recommendation, it is the Canvas/Black (-50 Degrees F).

Obviously because it’s EXTREMELY warm and comfortable.

There are hardly any cons apart from being heavy, but other than that it is a marvelous bag that does what it’s designed to do without fail!

Well thanks for reading this article.
