What You Need to Know After a Long Break From Camping

Posted on November 13, 2017 by Brandon

Have you been out of the camping game for quite some time now?

A year or two, five, or even 10 plus?

Well however long you’ve been gone for, one things for sure. You need to know what you’re getting yourself into.

Time has moved, technology has changed and so has all of our equipment.

I want to give you the ins and outs, some updates and everything else you need to know.

The Rise of Technology and How it Affects Camp Goers

Gone are the days of needing an extra blanket or two when camping, especially in the summertime.

All you need is a decent sleeping bag designed for the exact temperatures you’ll be camping in.

You do not need an extra blanket, unless of course your sleeping bag is not rated for the conditions you’re in.

Furthermore, the rise of technology means we have bigger, better, lighter and higher quality tents at our disposal!

They are ultralight and have no trouble withstanding the elements.

Here you can find some great tents under $100!

Your Equipment is Most Likely Outdated

Your old equipment you used back in the day is outdated and under-performing.

Sure, it might hold up in the meantime, but what happens when a sudden storm passes through the night?

You’re taking a massive gamble with all your outdated equipment my friend.

Sorry, but this means new equipment is needed…

Thankfully, I’ve been running this site for years and know what the top products are and what you should get.

Take my advice as a grain of salt, however, you can get started for as little as $100!

This will give you the basics – tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and the optional flashlight/knife blade.

Safety Will Always Be Top Priority

Safety is and always will be top priority.

Not with just camping either, but with everything you do on a daily basis.

Safety is HIGHLY important. Without being cautious, tragedy can strike at any moment.

The good thing is is that staying safe is all about using your common sense.

I’ve put together a safety list for camping so you have a general idea about what the heck I’m talking about.

Fun Will Always Be Fun

After all these changes, one thing’s for sure–camping is and always will be fun.

The fun you experienced 5 years ago, or even 10 plus years ago can be experienced all over again!

That’s the beauty of being in the wilderness – every adventure is different so no experience is going to be the same.

And yep, you guessed it – I have a comprehensive list for that too!

Just call me the Camping Master 😀

Everything Else You Need To Know

There isn’t much else to know to be completely honest with you.

The major differences are: law changes and equipment.

You may need to check with your local campsite to get all the updated rules and regulations as well.

It’s better to be safe than sorry, so don’t overlook this step if you want to be on the absolute safe side.

Well I hope you found what you were looking for inside this article.

Please add your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

I’d love to hear them.

Cheers.

-Brandon
