There are so many tents out on the market that contain these vestibule rooms.
However a lot of them are simply a waste of money and not even worth your time, my top rated camping tents listed throughout this article are my all-time favorite, and I am so happy to suggest them to you!
First and foremost, for those of you who don’t know, the vestibule area is actually a ‘storage’ space under the rain fly where you place all your gear.
Due to the storage area being under the rain fly, this means that your equipment will stay completely dry as long as it stays zipped up.
1) Alps Mountaineering Extreme 3 Tent
Product Overview
My #1 recommendation, due to the weather-resisting capabilities that it offers. The price of this tent varies between $160 and $180. It is a 3 person tent and capable of withstanding some tough winds. Due to the rain fly being so sloped, the wind blows upwards rather than into it.
The bathtub flooring is also a great feature that makes sure the rain stays out from the bottom of the tent.
All in all, this tent is best used for for extreme weather such as high winds and downpour.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
The huge double vestibule areas make this tent stand out from many other tents in this price range. It’s a lot lighter than other 3 person tents as well, making it a perfect choice for backpacking or camping in rough weather.

2) Slumberjack 4 Person Trail
Product Overview
This is still my favorite 4 person tent (roughly $120 to $140). It works a lot better than expected. This tent can also withstand some harsh rainstorms and heavy winds.
The vestibule areas does the job as designed, however they aren’t as big as other vestibules.
With the mesh walls almost covering the entire tent, makes for great ventilation.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
What I like the most from this tent, is that it’s a 4 person tent that can handle harsh conditions, a big surprise for a tent of this price.
This is for 3 season use, so you can take the rain fly off in the hot summer days for a full view of the night sky while you stay protected from mosquitoes.

3) Mountainsmith Morrison 2 Tent
Product Overview
So far this is my second favorite 2 person tent. The vestibules aren’t as big as most vestibule rooms, however this more than makes up for it for the weight.
It is only weighing 4 lbs 11 oz, so it works perfect for a backpacking trip into the wilderness, or an ultralight camping trip.
This tent is completely waterproof, so you won’t need to worry about rain getting in, especially because of the bathtub flooring. It also has 2 wide doors, making it a breeze to hop in and out for a midnight pit stop without having to climb over the other person.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
What I like the most about this tent is actually how lightweight it is. While weighting 4 lbs 11 oz, and being this waterproof, I wouldn’t hesitate in purchasing one for myself.
The rain fly can also be removed from the tent to have a full view of the night sky.

4) Alps Mountaineering Taurus 2 Tent
Product Overview
My 4th favorite tent that contains a vestibule room. For the price you pay, you can’t go wrong (usually $80 to $100). ALPS make some pretty decent tents, and this one is one of them.
This one is similar to the Alps Mountaineering Extreme 3 Tent. It still works just as good, it just isn’t as large though and the vestibules aren’t as big either.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
I find that the vestibules are still bigger than some other tents and its waterproofing capabilities work extraordinary. With a tent of this price that’s capable of handling rough conditions, it makes it perfect for car camping.
The price is has definitely on the cheaper side than other tents, and because it’s been proven to stand the test of time, makes it worth it in the long run.

5) The Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Tent
Product Overview
This tent isn’t as good as the recommendations I have mentioned above, however it is still better than 95% of other 2 person tents on the market.
This is classed as a 2 person tent, it’s not as big as other 2 man tents. But it’s extremely lightweight and provides a great view of the night sky with the rain fly taken off.
It costs roughly $100 to $120 and provides a nice design that will get the looks in a public campsite.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
It is very lightweight, making this tent a lot better than other 2 person tents.
The rain fly can come off in the hot summer nights, and because the walls are all mesh, you will have a cool breeze coming in all night and if you decide to put it back on you will still get maximum ventilation.

Conclusion (and recommendation)
There are some really epic tents on the market these days, and there are some very bad ones that still get some good reviews.
Most of the time I think the good reviews come from people that use the tent once and find that it works good, only to never use it again.
While that is good and all, however tents need to stand the test of time so you know if you can get your moneys worth out of the tent or not. The ones I have outlined above will more than make up for the price.
And they all get a 30 day return policy, while some getting limited lifetime warranties.
My recommended choices: Because having a tent to hold up in heavy downfall and strong winds is highly important out in the wild, my preferred choice is hands down the ALPS Mountaineering Extreme 3 tent (good for backpacking).
However, the Slumberjack 4 Person (better for car camping) works just as good and a lot cheaper. But because it isn’t as light as the ALPS, it is more suited for car camping.
I hope you found a good tent that will fit your needs. If you haven’t, this article will show you what to look for when you’re purchasing a tent.
