I’ve seen this tent get a lot of talk lately on social media platforms.
It lead me to creating my own Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent review, so I can see what all the fuss is about.
It does look like a great tent indeed, but as we all know looks can be deceiving when it comes to outdoor equipment.
One tent might look amazing but perform bad, whereas a bad-looking tent might perform flawlessly.
That’s why you must do your research first. If you can avoid ending up with a bad product, do it!
One of my favorites!
Summary
What a great tent this is! It holds up well in gale force winds and keeps all the rain out (even tropical storms), and has no trouble in snow or blowing sand.
I love this tent and only recommend it if you’re serious about taking your camping trip to the next level.
My only complaint is the cheap, ineffective stakes. However, get groundhogs and that con is completely eliminated.

Product Overview
These tents are designed for the military, but have recently come available for the public.
It can withstand extremely harsh weather conditions. These include: blowing sand, tropical storms, and even arctic cold!
It is rectangular-shaped and held together by three poles. This typical shape ensures better snow and water run-off.
The rain fly is UV and cold-resistant, and includes an opening/closing panel on the vestibules. You can keep them half open (for left or right entry), or roll it up entirely for easy entry/exit.
Features That Stick Out The Most
Inherent Toughness – This tent is designed to handle whatever mother nature throws at it. And over the years it does NOT lose that ability. They are made to be in extreme weather and it withstands it flawlessly
Advanced Protection – The rain fly has immense UV and cold-resistance. The UV inhibitors on the fly fabric help make this happen.
Double Vestibules – The vestibules are under the rain fly. It is where you store your equipment so you don’t need it in the tent. The vestibules offer an awning also, which can be held up with 2 trekking poles and includes multiple venting options.
Heavy-Duty Zippers – Everyone knows zippers are usually the first thing to go on tents. Well that isn’t the case with the Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent, as it features straight #10, which are longer-lasting than traditional zippers.
Two Doors – I’m a big fan of double doors. This is especially true when you’re camping with multiple people. It’s just so much more convenient.
What I Like
Strength – The strength of this tent and how much protection it provides from the elements is what caught my eye the most. I love military tents, and this is now one of my favorites!
The Color – The military green is a nice final touch. Even though I’m not a big fan of green it looks really good on this tent.
Awning – You don’t see many tents providing awnings. It’s good to have them up during the day, to keep the air circulating and preventing overheating.
What I Don’t Like
Heavy Weight – I shouldn’t be complaining, but it would be difficult to take this tent backpacking. The only other option would be to split the weight up between other campers, and just share it when you arrive at your destination.
Who Should Use This Tent?
People who camp in mountains, or where the weather can become extreme.
It’s designed to handle such conditions, so don’t be afraid to camp where sandstorms are, torrential rain and heavy winds.
My friend, if you’re serious about taking your camping trips to the next level you need a tent that’s going to power through anything that mother nature throws at it.
The Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent is THAT tent!

Do I Recommend This Tent To Anyone?
There are so many nitpickers out there, it’s unbelievable.
You have an amazing tent that can withstand bad weather, but then you have people looking for every little thing to complain about.
This is one of the most toughest tents out there, and I have reviewers to back that claim up.
So what if the stakes are cheap quality? Build a bridge, buy some groundhogs and get over it.
There’s no reason to give it one star because of that, when everything else on the tent is flawless!
Of course there’s a mere chance you can receive a bad one (with defects), but that happens with all products, all around the world.
That’s what the 30-day return policy is for anyway.
This tent is awesome and I have no complaints about it, other than the low quality stakes. Get stronger ones for best results.
I absolutely recommend Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent!
Similar Tent
If you’re worried about the stakes and heavy weight, there’s another 4-season tent you may like. The Mountain Hardwear Direkt 2 has a 3.5 pound packed weight and also does an incredible job in the rain and wind.
But if that’s too small for you (since it’s a 2-man tent), the ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 3 Tent is a little lighter than the Assault Outfitter, it’s much cheaper and has no issues with the stakes.
In Short
The only real issue with the Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 Tent is the low quality stakes.
But that is only minor.
You can eliminate that con simply by getting groundhogs. Then you are left with an amazing tent that performs flawlessly in the field.
You will find people nitpicking at this product, but at the end of the day it is still going to keep you safe from the elements, EVEN when the weather’s extreme.
If you’re on the fence about getting this tent, I say go for it!
Just remember to get better stakes so you experience best results.

Thank you so much for your thorough review. My husband and I have an old Eureka tent that is very similar to this one (it’s a Eureka Mountain Pass 4, which they don’t make anymore), but our old Eureka is finally starting to show its age after many years and much use during both driving road trips near and far, and trips where we flew with it. I have searched and searched for a replacement, and this Eureka Assault Outfitter 4 looks fantastic. This has a ton of similarities to our current tent and looks like it could handle the various weather conditions we encounter during our vacations. Thanks for describing this one so thoroughly. You have been really helpful.
