Is there anything from with this 6 person tent?
In this Ozark Trail 6 Person Instant Cabin Tent review, my main goal is to debunk all feedback that it has received and find out if this product is even worth it or not.
It isn’t exactly the cheapest cabin tent on the market, however that doesn’t mean all expensive products are high quality and up to everyone’s expectations.
I will now find the true worth of this tent.
Product Overview
This tent has been described to be durable, comfortable, and reliable all at the same time. The manufacturers are also claiming that it makes a great choice for many outdoor adventures.
This tent can fit up to 6 people, and I find that it can be set up within 60 seconds, probably quicker after some practice. There is no assembly required, since the poles are already attached to the strong nylon material.
These poles are made of steel and have been described to be very sturdy by many people.
On this tent you will find 3 large windows, while there’s enough room to house 2 queen-sized air mattresses.
The rain fly comes factory seam-sealed, which is a great idea for people that want something that’s ready to go, straight out of the box. They are also saying that the rain fly is tough and sturdy.
It is a freestanding tent, this means that no central support pillars are needed, this is good for maximizing interior space and convenience.
The flooring material has been welded to stop insects from entering.
What Makes This Tent Unique?
The fact that it can be set up in 30 seconds flat (after some practice), this is definitely a feature that makes this tent stand out from the crowd.
The factory seam-sealed rain fly was also something that caught my eye. Not all manufacturers go the extra mile to ensure no rain will get in.

Who It’s For
I would say this tent makes a great choice for a small family, or a group of friends that want to go on a camping trip.

If you want a tent that’s fast to pitch, this one is definitely worth considering.
Pricing & Purchase Details
The Ozark Trail 6 Person Instant Cabin Tent can be purchased at its lowest price from Amazon.com.
The pricing does change regularly though, and mostly between $110 and $150, which is why I recommend you check the current price before making a final decision.
You will get a 30 day return policy from Amazon, this is so you can send it back for a repair just in case you find any defects on the product. You can also get a full refund, a better choice if it wasn’t up to your expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Extremely fast to set up and can be done in 30 seconds after some practice
- The factory seam-sealed rain fly, along with the welded flooring, makes it ready to go as soon as it arrives
- The freestanding design is another great feature that many other cabin-styled tents don’t offer. These work great for helping the tent stand up in strong winds
- Very spacious too, there’s enough room to hold 2 queen-sized air mattresses. Or simply use one mattress instead, and having the extra space for more luxury items and camp out like a king
- I find that this tent is waterproof and will have no problems in keeping you dry, even if a downfall passes through the night
Cons
- There’s a slight chance you could get a tent with a defect
- Someone complaining that it might only be good for pitching on the grass (no sand or gravel)
- Only available in 1 color
Alternative/Similar Products
The CORE 6 Person Instant Cabin Tent is a good alternative if you want to camp on gravel or harder areas of Mother Nature. Although it is a little more expensive, you might need a tarp under this one to extend the life of your investment.
If you still want a 6 person tent, but want something that doesn’t have any problems with the flooring, although it’s not an instant setup tent – it is still in the same price range, AND has its own porch area. Check out my full review on the Coleman Evanston Screened Tent.
Do I Recommend This Tent?
The flooring problem has only been complained about by 1 person, while the rest of the reviews are from people that are saying nothing but nice things about it.
Because of this reason, I personally think that this specific person got a used tent, that’s the reason why they got one with low quality flooring.
But if you don’t want to take the risk, then the CORE 6 Person Instant Cabin Tent is more recommended for you.
However, if you think that it was just a used tent (like me), then I would easily say this tent works just as expected and as advertised.
Highly recommended.
My Final Opinion
Honestly, there’s every chance in the world that you can get this thing up in 60 seconds, easy. There was a 60 y/o grandma that got this thing up in 2 minutes – by herself!
That is a great feature that will benefit many people and families.
I have no doubts that this tent WILL stand up in strong winds, due to the freestanding mechanism, and it also keeps the rain out like a charm.
It isn’t the greatest tent for its price range, but it works as everyone expects it to.
The pros outweigh the cons by a long shot, and since the 1 negative review is nothing to worry about, especially because of the 30 day return policy, then I would say that this tent is highly recommended!
I purchased this tent and used it several times a year for 4 years. My daughter also borrowed it several times. The end of it came in a thunderstorm in Minnesota when the wind stressed the tent until the center connector at the peak broke in half. The tent came down and was not repairable. Nevertheless, I intend to buy another one for my daughter to use on weekends with her friends. I feel I got my money’s worth ($98 at Walmart) out of the tent while I had it. I saw many more expensive tents go down in that storm. I figure it cost me less than $3 per night, not bad compared to hotels rooms.
That is a marvelous lifespan my friend, and I’m impressed with $3 per night. Good luck finding a hotel room with that price!
I’m super glad it lasted so long and you got more than your moneys worth.
Unfortunately the bad weather got the better of it in the end, however, it will be interesting to see how long your next one will last. I’m thinking longer if you don’t experience as much bad weather.
