The Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag Is Cheap But Is It Worth It?

Posted on January 13, 2017 by Brandon

I want to find out if this sleeping bag really stands up the claims that people are giving it.

It does look like a good bag, but the question is: Is it good quality, enough to go camping in it at least a few times?

Because if it can’t do that, then it will be no good for avid campers and backpackers.

This is my honest and unbiased Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag review, and this is where I will thoroughly research this product and discover everything that the manufacturers aren’t telling you.

Enjoy!Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag

Specifications

Product name: Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag

Cheapest place to buy: Amazon.com

Size: 33 x 84 x 24 inches

Weight: 4.85 pounds with 3.5 pounds of fill

Color: Royal

Temperature Rating: 0 degrees

Guarantee: 30 day return policy

My final rating:

1star1star1star1star

Product Description

The Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag has a double layered insulation, allowing you to stay warm at higher altitudes.

The final weight of this bag is sitting at just 4.5 pounds, with the fill material being a Hollowblend MicroTekk Z1 (this weighs 3.5 pounds).

This specific material type is designed to keep you toasting warm down to temperatures as low as 0 degrees.

Because of the low temperature rating that it can handle, it makes a good choice for camping in cold conditions like in the fall and even the winter.

The manufacturers have claimed that this sleeping bag can also handle alpine hiking/backpacking trips!

There is an offset quilt system that this sleeping bag offers too.

This specific feature stops the fill material from moving around and getting uneven, resulting in the heat staying leveled throughout, thus eliminating cold spots.

In addition to all of this, you will find that it contains full chest baffle, a drawstring hood, and a draft tube.

All of these features stop the wind from sneaking in throughout the night, allowing you to sleep comfortably warm.

What Makes This Sleeping Bag Unique?

This sleeping bag really stood out to me.

The fact that it provides this many features and has the ability to handle really cold temperatures, I couldn’t believe that it was this low in price.

Who This Sleeping Bag Is For

This one is clearly for people that are considering going backpacking for extended periods or an overnight hiking trip.

However, if you are planning on camping with this sleeping bag during the summer time, it is also good for that too.

Pricing & Purchase Details

The Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag is now available for purchase at Amazon.com.

Suisse Sport Everest Sleeping Bag

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Much cheaper than other sleeping bags, a good choice for someone on a budget
  • It comes with a compression stuff sack! It can be compressed down to about 1.5 feet
  • Many people have 100% agreed that the claims of keeping you warm down to 0 degrees is actually TRUE
  • Includes a lot of features that you’d usually find in a $60-100 sleeping bag. These functions allow you to tighten the bag and seal the heat in
  • No rips or zipper snags, unlike other sleeping bags that include these common issues

Cons

  • Some people do not recommend using it in the summer time, since you can overheat
  • Can be too heavy for backpacking, UNLESS you’re experienced in this field and use to carrying heavy loads
  • A couple of complaints about the zipper breaking within a couple of days to a few months

Do I Recommend This Sleeping Bag?

That will have to be an easy yes.

There are a far too many people saying that it is too hot to be camping in the warmer months/summer time.

So I would have to rule summer camping out, because I don’t want you sweating during the night and overheating.

Even though there is a small issue with the zipper breaking, only a small amount of people are complaining about this.

While there are hundreds of people praising this sleeping bag and saying nothing but nice things about it.

The cons are completely minor, with the pros outweighing them by a long shot.

As a result, I have no issues with this sleeping bag.

Highly recommended!

Alternative Sleeping Bag

If you’re looking for a sleeping bag that you can use in 0 degrees AND the summer time, since you can just unzip the sides at let some heat out, then you might want to check out the Coleman Dunnock Sleeping Bag.

However, this one is slightly more expensive than the Suisse Sport.

Or if you want a sleeping bag that’s a lot lighter, making it easier to go backpacking with, then the Teton Sports Trailhead is a better choice for you.

The only downside is that the temperature rating is only 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

My Final Verdict

There are many buyers that have used the Suisse Sport and found it to work as advertised.

And then there is a small number of people who have purchased it and found it not to be as good as everyone claims it to be.

I have come to a conclusion.

With all Amazon products, there will be a couple of defects, which is why I have no problems with those negative reviews.

It has obtained and held a solid 4.4 star rating for a very long time, while it has shown absolutely NO signs of going lower than that either.

Because of all the reasons I have talked about inside this review, and simply because the cons are only minor, this sleeping Bag is highly recommended!

Man I haven’t been camping in years. Since I got married camping consists of pulling our trailer and sleeping in that. I sure do miss sleeping on the ground in a good warm sleeping bag. After reading this post I’m thinking a good ol trip with the guys is in order this year.

Haha, you HAVE to go on a well-deserved camping trip every so often, Shawn. It’s great to get out of the daily and grind and truly relax for a good weekend. And if you do decide to take your friends on a trip, I wish you the best of luck.

And most of all, take care.

    Brandon,
This looks like an excellent choice for a sleeping bag. In fact, I wish I would have found this review sooner. My husband and I went camping in Utah (at Monument Valley) last year… and while we had a wonderful time, we FROZE in our tents due to some unexpected windy, and very cold, weather. This would have been perfect for us! Great review, you seem to be an expert in what you do, and I’m glad I found your website to use now and in the future.

That’s because it IS a great sleeping bag! That absolutely sucks that you froze in your tent, but that doesn’t have to be the case. If you just do a little more research on products before you buy it, you might have ended up with a better sleeping bag and tent. Well you know my website now, so I hope I can keep seeing you around 🙂

      Good luck,
      Brandon

Merely looking at Suisse Sport Everest sleeping bag makes me feel cozy right off the bat.
The double layered insulation is without a doubt very practical approach – It creates a micro-climate..

..it means, once it gets warm inside this sleeping bag, it stays warm
No wonder why it can handle very low temperatures.. Clever mechanics!

    But 0 degrees Fahrenheit.. Man..
In this sleeping bag you’re almost fully prepared for next ice age! (& I’m not talking about the movie lol)

Haha, it does give off a comfortable/cozy feel doesn’t it! Thanks for your comment, Henry. I’m glad you like this sleeping bag and I’m sure you’ll love the benefits that it offers if you ever use it one day 🙂

      Cheers,
      Brandon

I think when it comes to camping in the cold you have convinced me that this is a good product to buy. I am a firm believer in not overpaying for something if I can get the same or close value at a cheaper price. Thank you for the information. Do they offer other camping gear?

It absolutely is, Ronny! I was surprised myself at the temperature rating that it offers, mostly because of what the current price is. And yes, Suisse Sport does offer other camping gear, but only tents.

      Hope this helps you.

    Hi,
Thank you for your review. This sleeping bag looks good, but I like the good value for the price, but I think it’s really heavy for longer hikes compared to the some brand alternative out there. I wonder what the insulation material is made of? Is the ventilation good for sleeping in a open structure in front of the fire? It tends to be really warm in the evening and if you sweat int he bag, you will freeze in the morning hours. I am also worried about the 0F/-18C though, as I often hike at winter time and I am not sure this one will be warm enough. Do you have other recommendations for really cold weather mountain hikes?

Hi there. I agree, it is too heavy for backpacking. However, if you’re an avid backpacker and it’s easy for you to cart around a heavy sleeping bag, then you’ll have no issues with the extra weight. I highly doubt the ventilation is good. If you want to camp by the fire, you’ll have to unzip the bag so you can have SOME air entering it.

Too my surprise, I wasn’t sure this sleeping bag would perform as good as it does. But it turns out, it is THAT bag that you are looking for. It’s known to keep people warm below 0 degrees. That’s why I keep saying you can’t go wrong for the price of this sleeping bag.

Good luck and thanks for the comment,
      Brandon
