There are a large number of benefits you can gain just from going on a camping trip with your family.
However, a lot of them are not worth mentioning, which is why I am only talking about the most important ones in this article.
So if you want to what the true benefits of camping with your family are, then you are in the right place, because I camp often and absolutely KNOW you’ll reap the rewards that this simple activity offers.

Enjoy!
Did You Know?
Only 6% of children play outside. That’s a shocking number and an eye-opener, to say the least.
But the question is:
Do you want your kids to reap the benefits of playing outside, or do you want them to be amongst the millions of children who stay inside, where they learn nothing and grow up to not know ANYTHING about camping, fishing, or any other beneficial outdoor activity?
I already know what I want my kids to do, and that is to learn more about nature, to know how to survive if they ever needed to, and to most of all have fun while doing it!
Being outside is essential for a growing, healthy mind and soul. Even as little as an hour a day outside is enough to be in the safe zone.
However, you can take this a step even further simply by going camping.
It’s a time to bond, the time to show your children what you know, so they can grow up and teach their kids as well.
1.) Strengthening The Bond
One thing many kids lack with their parents in this day and age is a strong bond!
Camping with them only brings everyone closer, while you will also form a bond with your spouse, mother, father, and all others that you take camping with you.
It’s just so important to not overlook what you can gain, because this benefit is indeed priceless – in my honest opinion.
2.) More Memories
Again, you will create UNFORGETTABLE memories with your family.
Why would you not want that?
Being in the outdoors is a good thing, but actually being able to share the experiences with your loved ones just creates much better memories than any other activity.
3.) Establishing Traditions
Traditions are important, so making sure you have set dates every single year will make everyone look forward to the activity and make it a lot better in the process.
My family and I camp every summer and haven’t missed one yet!
Furthermore, you can carry this tradition on for many years to come. Your kids will follow in your tracks and do the exact same thing with their kids as well.
Getting outside for a family hiking adventure provides a way to ease into outdoor activity with the family.
4.) Cuts Down Stress Levels
It has been proven time and time again that camping, whether it be at a public campsite or in the wilderness, can bring your stress levels down IMMENSELY.
We live in a world of the fast lane, where we live our day-to-day lives busy at our jobs, doing shopping, running errands, while all at the same time being a parent.
This soon takes a toll on our bodies, physically and mentally, so going on a camping trip will actually help you get refreshed and revitalized, to get you ready for reality again.
5.) Fresh Air
You simply can not beat the fresh air of the great outdoors.
And no…air in the city is not as clean as what it is in the wilderness!
Fresh air is natures recharger, it’s extremely healthy and does wonders to our bodies, mind and soul.
I mean, how does that not take the edge off from everyday life?
Well it does indeed, which is why I wanted to include this benefit out of the many available.
6.) Being Free
Breaking the tether of technology is one of the many family camping benefits. Back at home, you and your kids are a slave to the internet, social media, video games, and the television.
It might be hard to admit it, but it’s true, and I am no saint either.
However, you, your loved ones and your children can do with a break from all of this every now and then.
Being out in nature, communicating with each other and just taking a break from all the technology works wonders for the human body.
Trust me, when I think we all need a break from electronics, I go on a camp with the family. It makes everyone so much happier, no one ever wants to leave!
7.) There Are Much More Activities Than You Think
In addition to the usual connecting with nature, relaxing with an ice cold beer, watching the kids and the rest of the family play football in the distance, there are a wide range of other activities you can do.
- Exploring the outdoors opens your mind to the possibilities of the world and teaches you more about human and animal history. Knowledge is power, it’s that simple. If you want to grow your mind and soul, exploring the outdoors is an amazing activity to try
- Go fishing and catch your dinner for the night, all while teaching your kids the ins and outs of it all, making them happier and strengthening that all-important bond that this world lacks
- Kayaking is at the top of my favorite outdoor activity while out camping. I am by no means the BEST, but it does not take long to learn the ropes. You too can explore the waters while having extreme fun in the process
- Biking is great too, but it’s also a little more dangerous. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s bad or anything. I actually go biking in the wilderness every single time I go camping, as it’s a great way to do your exploring. Stop and take photos at the same time!
8.) Benefits For Your Children
Your kids will learn a lot about survival skills (building a campfire, catching food, staying warm), they will adapt to the environment, and also build confidence/self-esteem,
You simply can not put a price on the skills that your children can gain while camping.
Make sure you include them in everything, to actually SHOW them what you are doing instead of telling them to bugger off and play.
It’s all about the children after all, because all the memories you create for them will last a life time! Remember that.
9.) Great For The Body
All the activities you do while camping is a lot more exercise than you think.
- Getting firewood
- Building the campfire
- Preparing and cooking dinner
- Hiking
- Biking
- Swimming in the lake
Every single thing you do while camping burns calories, and usually a lot of them!
Staying active is great for the body, but also remember to relax as well, because you deserve it after all 🙂
10.) It’s Easy On The Wallet
I don’t care what anyone says, camping is one of the best and CHEAP vacations you can go on.
It’s extremely cost-effective and very fun at the same time.
Staying in a hotel or flying across the other side of the globe is much more expensive than a weekend camping trip at your local campsite, hands down!
Take advantage of it this summer, along with all the other benefits I have mentioned in this article, and you will do well my good friend 🙂
Wrapping Up And Why Camping Is Simply The Best
What I really love about camping is the vast amount of opportunity available, as it makes a great choice for EVERYONE.
If you’re not the outdoor type but still want to have a vacation with the family, go in style and sleep in a van or RV.
Otherwise set the backseat and boot up of the car with a bed.
The family can still sleep in their tents while you enjoy the luxury of a warm (and sealed) metal barrier, out from the cold and all the wildlife.
Want to try something new? Camp in a hammock and really test yourself.
Camping offers something for everyone, which is why I can not recommend it enough!
Go and spend time camping with your family as soon as possible, because time and opportunities aren’t slowing down for no one! There’s nothing better than camping with your loved ones.

Camping Mastery
I love how you said that camping is a cheap vacation! Most of the time I would imagine that a campground is going to be cheaper than a hotel and making your own food is going to be cheaper than buying it. All in all, it makes sense that camping would be a cheaper vacation.
It most certainly is Kylie! People think camping is overrated, however, I wholeheartedly believe that that is far from the truth. There are so many benefits available and invaluable memories to gain, passing up a camping trip shouldn’t even cross your mind!
Brandon, thanks for your comment about how you can learn useful skills when camping. I appreciate how you said that being outdoors can help you feel healthier and happier. My husband and I are thinking about taking our family on a camping trip in Holiday Park and we are looking into nice and fun resorts for a fun outdoor vacation as a family.
No worries, Ashley. You can find great spots in your area just from typing in google: “best holiday parks in [your city]”. Hope this helps! 😀
I’m glad that this article talks about how there are many different activities to do when camping, such as exploring the outdoors to get more knowledge about the world. In order to do this, you’d probably want to find a good camping site with interesting areas around it, such as a forest. Exploring the outdoors could also help improve your imagination and creativity as you and your family see new animals and plants and come up with fun ideas and stories for what you see.
That’s another way to look at it. Exploring the forest is a great way to improve your imagination and creativity, I agree!
The more you explore and make memories the more there is to look back on in life. Thanks for your comment 🙂
