Introduction:

Be sure to check out our water bottle comparison to see how the Klean Kanteen performed against other great water bottles.

In this article I am reviewing the Klean Kanteen. I’m going to be honest; I have known brands like Hydro Flask and YETI Rambler, but I had never really heard too much about the Klean Kanteen. It turns out Klean Kanteen makes one heck of a water bottle! It’s perfect for keeping your water cold while hiking Zion National Park

Our Conclusion:

Overall, the Klean Kanteen 20oz. Classic insulated water bottle is an easy to use water bottle that will keep your drinks hot and cold. If you are looking for an insulated stainless-steel water bottle that will keep drinks hot or cold, then you are going to want to take a look at the Klean Kanteen! We put the Klean Kanteen through multiple tests and it blew my expectations away! I would recommend the Klean Kanteen to anyone! Keep reading for more on the Klean Kanteen.

Description:

The Klean Kanteen 20oz. Classic insulated water bottle ismade from 18/8 Pro-Grade stainless steel. The double wall vacuum insulation will keep drinks hot for 20 hours and iced for 50 hours. This water bottle comes in 7 different colors. If you don’t like any of the colors, then cover the bottle with stickers.  The Klean Kanteen is not dishwasher safe (Yes, you are going to have to hand wash this bottle. I know this may be a new concept for some people) .This insulated water bottle is also BPA-free, leak proof, and chip resistant. Klean Kanteen also uses environmentally friendly material in their products. This includes their plastic free bamboo cap and Klean Coat powder coat finish.

When to Use This Water Bottle:

The Klean Kanteen is best used for hiking, camping, kayaking, river rafting, and other outdoor activities.

Other things you can use the Klean Kanteen insulated water bottle for:

  • Biking across the United States
  • Fishing the Colorado River
  • Jet Skiing
  • Four-wheeler adventure (Just don’t drag it behind the four-wheeler)
  • or almost all ideas for outdoor fun you can come up with

When Not to Use This Water Bottle:

The Klean Kanteen 20oz. water bottle can pretty much be used for just about any situation in which you will need to keep drinks hot or cold. The Klean Kanteen shouldn’t be used for:

  • Brushing your teeth
  • Feeding your dog
  • Studying your textbook
  • Cleaning your room (Just because it says Klean doesn’t mean it will clean your room for you!)

Test Results:

In order to really see if the Klean Kanteen Classic insulated was up for the task, I ran some tests. The first test I ran was the leak test. The second test I put the Klean Kanteen through was a temperature test. Next I tested to see how durable the Klean Kanteen was. Lastly, I tested to see if the Klean Kanteen could survive getting pulled by a four-wheeler. Please see below for results

Leak Test:

For the leak test, I filled the insulated water bottle with water and measured from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle, which was 1 inch. I, then, ensured I screwed the cap on real tight and laid the water bottle completely on its side for 24 hours. After 24 hours, I opened the water bottle and there was no water lost. The measurement from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle was still the same, at 1 inch. The Klean Kanteen is 100% leak proof according to my test. A water bottle that doesn’t leak, what a novel idea!

Temperature Test:

I filled the insulated bottle with 18oz of water that was 46 degrees Fahrenheit and set the bottle inside my kitchen, which was around 70 degrees in temperature (The temperature of the kitchen fluctuated throughout the 24-hour period). I, then, checked the temperature of the water every hour for the next 12 hours and once at the 24-hour mark. After 12 hours, I checked the temperature of the water with a meat thermometer (the same way I had been) and the temperature was 57.1 degrees. This was the best out of all the water bottles I tested!  The temperature of the water only went up 11.1 degrees! 11.1 degrees in 24 hours is fantastic for a water bottle. You will not be disappointed in the Klean Kanteen!

Durability Test:

For the durability test I dropped the Klean Kanteen out my bedroom window onto the concrete. The 12-foot distance from the window to the concrete was perfect to test out the durability of the bottle. I have to say, it was just what I expected. The bottle bounced on the concrete and got a small dent in it. The Klean Kanteen had minimal damage!

Klean Kanteen vs. Four-Wheeler:

After the durability test, I really wanted to put the Klean Kanteen up to another test. So, I decided to drag it with a four-wheeler. Don’t ask me why I thought it would be a good idea. I’m not even really sure what it exactly tests. I guess it tests durability.

The Klean Kanteen got roughed up pretty good, but to be fair I don’t think most things are going to survive after getting dragged by the four-wheeler. The klean Kanteen ended up with lots of scratches and dings, but I would say it is one durable water bottle.

If this bottle was a Star Wars Character:

What could be better than Star Wars characters and water bottles? I think there is nothing better! I would say the Klean Kanteen Classic insulated water bottle compares to Yoda (And not just because the bottle I tested was green! Well, maybe that had something to do with it). I think the Klean Kanteen compares to Yoda because the Klean Kanteen performed the best in the temperature test and is my number one choice for a water bottle. Yoda is my number one Jedi. The Klean Kanteen is a powerful water bottle that can keep drinks cold for 50 hours, just like Yoda is a powerful Jedi master that learned the secrets to immortality.
