5 Awesome Water Bottles to Take Outdoors

Posted on August 17, 2020August 17, 2020 by Matthew Swales

Introduction:

If you go camping, hiking, kayaking, or perform any other activity outside, especially in the summer, you know how important it is to have cold and extra water available. It is important to have a water bottle that will supply you with extra water or cold refreshing water. And not just any water bottle either, the water bottle needs to be durable to withstand any activity!

I have set forth to find the most durable water bottle possible that will keep my drinks cold while enjoying the outdoor activities I love. I figured that if I could help myself find the perfect water bottle, I could help others find the perfect water bottle that will allow them to enjoy the activates they love.

The 5 awesome water bottles I would like to share with you are as follow:

Test Results:

In order to really see if these bottles were all the talk, I ran some tests. The first test I ran was the leak test. The second test I put the bottles through was a temperature test. Lastly, I tested to see how durable the bottles were.

Leak Test:

For the leak test, I filled the water bottles with water and measured from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle. I, then, ensured I screwed the cap on real tight and laid the water bottles completely on its side for 24 hours. After 24 hours, I opened the water bottles and there was no water lost. The measurement from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle was still the same. You will not have to worry about the water bottles leaking on your hiking, hunting, or camping trip.

Temperature Test:

I filled the water bottles full of water that was 46 degrees Fahrenheit and set the bottle inside my kitchen, which was around 70 degrees in temperature (The temperature of the kitchen fluctuated throughout the 24-hour period). I, then, checked the temperature of the water every hour for the next 12 hours and once at the 24-hour mark. After 12 hours, I checked the temperature of the water with a meat thermometer (the same way I had been). The temperature of the water was different for every bottle I tested. To my surprise the Klean Kanteen was the bottle that kept water the coldest! (I thought it was going to be the YETI). This test is certainly not perfect and far from scientific, but it does give an idea of how the bottles keep water cold.

Durability Test:

I was very excited for the durability test (I really wanted to destroy the bottles). So, I thought that dropping the bottles out my bedroom window onto the concrete would be a good way to see how durable these bottles were. The distance from the window to the concrete is 12 feet. I filled the bottles with water, and I dropped them out the window. I have to say, I was very pleased with the results. To my surprise, only one bottle was unusable after the drop. That bottle was the Nalgene 32oz. (Link to video or article). I thought the Platy 2.0L bottle was going to pop, but it didn’t even get a scratch on it! As far as the three stainless steel water bottles go, YETI was the winner! The YETI bottle received the smallest of dents! Overall, all of the water bottles seem to be very durable to withstand whatever activity you are doing!
