Have you ever experienced the frustration of trying to get your girlfriend to go camping with you?
Well you’re not alone.
Thousands of men around the world are still struggling to this day, to get their significant other to join them in the woods.
So how exactly is it done?
It’s just a matter of implementing my tried and true methods, then finally being able to experience the great outdoors with your significant other and having the best time of your lives in the process.
Enjoy!
1. ย Get Her Accustomed To The Outdoors First
Why would she want to camp in the wilderness when she doesn’t even know what it offers yet?
So what do you do first?
Go for day hikes, at least once or twice a week. Not only will she start getting accustomed to the new environment, but it WILL grow on her.
After a few months, bring up the subject of camping again, her mood about it will change drastically.
If she says no, don’t give up yet!
2. Go For One Night Only
One of the easiest ways to get your girlfriend to camp with you is by assuring her that you will ONLY be going for 1 night.
Of course, this is after you complete a few months of hiking first.
I have found this to work many, many times on all my past girlfriends (and current), while my friends can’t stop thanking me since my tips have worked for them as well ๐
3. Use Holidays & Good Weather To Your Advantage
If you don’t have anything planned for a 3-day weekend, or if summertime is coming up, why not pitch the idea of a camping trip?
She’s probably already feeling left out anyway, since all her friends are enjoying the perfect outdoor weather and you STILL don’t have anything planned.
That’s the beauty of camping anyway, it’s so easy and inexpensive!
4. Try To Go Luxury
Your girlfriend is most likely scared of all the bugs, the fact that there’s no toilet in the wilderness, uncomfortable chairs, no running water, shower, and most of all, too much wildlife!
Now,ย I’m not telling you to go out and purchase an expensive RV or anything like that, but it will definitely help with getting your girlfriend to come along.
But no, if you choose a public campsite, they usually have running water and toilets, while bug repellent isn’t hard to find these days anyway.
It’s all about being smart with your choice of camping.
Heck, I’d even consider buying a cheap van and decking it out with a bed at least! That way she doesn’t have to be scared about wildlife coming into her tent at night.
5. Don’t Force Her Into Doing Anything
This might seem a little counterintuitive, but all you’re trying to do here is get your girlfriend to join you on a camping trip, that’s it.
Now she will NOT want to go again if you make her pitch the tent, collect firewood, or even cook dinner.
The only thing this will do is scare her away, because she still isn’t use to the whole idea of camping yet.
You want to ease her into camping.
So do an overnight trip first and do not force her into helping you with anything, then there’s a higher chance that she’ll want to go again.
6. She Will Help When She Is Ready
After numerous camping trips, she will finally adapt to the new environment and start helping you out a lot more.
She’ll want to help you pitch the tent, start the campfire, and cook dinner as well.
As I have mentioned above, if you force her to do these things, she will not want to go camping with you again.
So let her do her own thing and she will enjoy camping every single time, while she will not hesitate in saying yes to going again ๐
7. Let Her Use The Better Gear
If you have a good sleeping bag and she has a crappy one, then let her use yours!
Give her the better folding chair as well.
Why do this?
2 reasons.
Newbie campers are still getting use to the change and it will only make it harder for them to like it if they are using bad equipment, making them cold, uncomfortable, and miserable.
The other reason, she will realize that good outdoor equipment is a must if she wants the best experience.
So if she does end up enjoying the outdoors, she will end up buying her own anyway.
8. Comfort & Warmth Is Essential
You need to ensure that she is comfortable and warm around the campfire and especially overnight.
Women get colder than men, it’s a true fact.
So keep her warm with a good jacket or blanket around the campfire and down booties for in the sleeping bag.
It’s probably best to have an extra blanket or 2 for overnight as well. The nights can get extremely cold, even in the peak of summer!
9. Good Food
Need I say more? EVERY girl loves food. If they say they don’t, they are lying.
So I hope you’ve brushed up on your campfire cooking skills, because if you get this one right, you’ll accumulate many, many brownie points my good friend.
If you don’t know any good campfire recipes, I have no doubts she’ll love these ones.
10. Pooping & Peeing In The Forest
I’ve discovered over the years that women simply don’t like pooping or peeing in the woods.
This article explains how girls can get it done – the easy way, so send her to that link.
To be honest, pooping in the forest might seem really hard at first, but it gets easier the more you do it.
When you are out in the wilderness, reassure her that you will leave her to it and not bother her, because she definitely wants to be left on her own while she does her business.
Conclusion
Bears, bears and more bears.
Your girlfriend will steer clear of the wilderness if you scare her with bear stories, so keep them to yourself.
And remember to tell her that bears simply do not want to come near us. As bad as films make it seem, big grizzlies want to run in the opposite direction, not come up and eat us.
Electronics is another great way to make her feel more at home. You want to make being in the outdoors as comfortable as possible for her, that’s the key here.
Mobile phones, iPad’s, music players, these are all good items to help her keep her mind off the scary thoughts that are going through her mind while out of civilization.
Thank you for reading,
I hope you can get your girlfriend to go camping with you soon.

Cheers.
We love going camping it’s just the weather in Scotland that makes it oh so difficult lol
Hello Del. Camping in bad weather stops a lot of people from going camping. So it’s either you wait for a good, sunny weekend or get a decent tent that will do well in the rain/wind and hope for the best ๐
Terrible weather makes a great camping trip! No better feeling than after you’re all set up and sheltered and listening to the rain pour down on the tent! I might be in a minority here though haha.
Haha, that’s definitely something I like to do, but of course not for long because you’ll be wasting your entire camping trip in a tent. I bet no girlfriend wants to be cooped up in a tent on her first time out in the wild though!
Hi,
This is a stupid article. I can’t believe you wrote this in 2017. Literally, girls like camping too, dude. I didn’t even start camping until my girlfriend talked me into it; sure, I love it now, but it’s only because of her. Not all girls are like your girlfriend, and until you put your big boy pants on and talk to literally any girl with a backbone that doesn’t threaten your macho ego, you might find this out for yourself.
Thanks for trying though.
Your friend,
Alex
Sounds like somebody got out the wrong side of bed this morning.
And you do know that a lot of girls HATE the outdoors too, right? Just as much as other girls love the outdoors? Are you even listening to what you’re saying?
You’re claiming that literally all girls love camping?
No, not every girl likes camping because they would rather their hotel room or the comfort of their own bed.
I think YOU are the one that needs to drop your macho ego my friend, because you lashed out at me over nothing.
Hope you have a wonderful day Alex ๐
As bombastic as Alex was, he’s not entirely wrong. The sort of women who don’t like camping might be more desirable at first glance, but tend to lack substance. Such women are typically more concerned with their appearance and make up (and hence look a bit better), might be overly emotional/lack coping skills (and hence make us feel strong in comparison), and might not have much practical knowledge (thus making us ‘feel needed’), but over the long haul, they’re simply not worth it.
