This article is inspired by a certain someone who shall not be named.
It does not matter, but what does matter is the all-important question – Are women too weak to complete a successful solo camping trip?
I know a large majority of the worlds population will agree with this question.
And you know what?
That’s even more reason to get the truth out there for people to see!
So without further ado, lets get right into it.
Is there a reason for a women to go solo camping?
Not necessarily – there doesn’t always have to be a reason.
Men like to go on solo camping trips, so why can’t women?
Women want to experience the great outdoors as well.
They know our time on earth is limited, and the only way to make the most of it is by starting now.
Not tomorrow – not next month – not next year.
Being scared all the time; saying “next week”, and wondering if it truly is dangerous or not are all excuses.
This is what procrastinators do.
And guess what?
Procrastination kills dreams.
Which brings me to my next point… the comfort zone.
What is the Comfort Zone
The comfort zone is the safe zone.
This is where you feel safe and secure. However, nothing happens here.
No doors open and your life stays boring.
Your life will fly by and you will wonder what the heck happened to all the years.
But don’t worry.
There is indeed a way to get out of this “safe zone”.
The Danger Zone
We get into the danger zone by stepping out of our comfort zone.
Why is it called the danger zone?
Because we don’t know what’s going to happen.
And that’s the exact reason why nobody likes this place.
But the danger zone is how you get ahead in life. This is where doors open, opportunities come left, right and center.
The world is literally your playground when you step out of your comfort zone.
But remember, you do not have to stay in the danger zone all the time.
Just get into the danger zone every once in a while. Eventually it will get easier.
You’ll be where you really want to be in life without even knowing it!
Back on track…
Okay, so I went a little off track.
However, sometimes that’s what it takes to get your point across.
The point I’m trying to make is: if you keep making up excuses, you will never end up doing anything.
So how does this apply to solo camping?
The fact that if you keep cowering in fear, you will not even take the first step.
I’m not talking about gathering your equipment, choosing a destination and then saying you’ll do it next month.
The first step is walking out that door and embarking on your journey. Speaking of that first step be sure to check out our recommendation for hiking boots for women.
When you complete the first step, everything else falls into place.
Every solo camper needs to stay safe
Of course every solo camper has to stay safe.
Safety should be in the back of your mind with everything you do, not JUST for camping.
It’s all about common sense, and sadly common sense isn’t as common as it use to be.
If you made it this far, I know you want to go on a solo camping mission.
I’ve put together a list of things you need to worry about here.
Are women the weaker sex?
Absolutely not!
The painful truth is that people think women are the weaker sex.
Physically they are.
But mentally, everyone is different.
There’s a lot of psychically strong guys with weak minds.
And there’s a lot of physically weak women with incredibly strong minds.
So the myth that women are weaker couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Does this mindset stop women from trying new things?
Yes it does.
Sadly, women are conditioned to be scared of anything and everything JUST because of this “weaker sex” myth.
It is the norm in this day and age, and it needs to change.
It starts with you.
Not me, you.
Lets keep me out of this for now. I just want to focus on you for a second.
What does this have to do with you?
It’s simple.
Women living in fear make other women live in fear too.
Women being too scared to get out of their comfort zone because “they might get attacked” helps men think they are stronger.
It changes when women change their mindset.
That is the all-important secret.
It’s like a ripple effect.
When other women see you doing things alone, they’ll see that it’s not so bad after all and they might even give it a try too.
I know you want more out of life, but cowering in fear stops that from happening!
I know that’s not what you truly want, and I want to help you live life to the fullest.
I encourage you to try something new
This is the first step to making a change.
Your friends and family never have time to embark on an outdoor journey with you, and that’s completely fine.
This is your time to shine.
Or, if you aren’t ready you can do other things to work your way up to it.
A solo hike in a public track will work, but a hike in the wilderness or somewhere more private is even better.
Doing this will reprogram your mind, to show you that it isn’t so dangerous after all.
And if something feels “off”, like your gut is telling you the road ahead is dangerous, then turn around and go the other way.
It’s easier to get out of a situation simply by avoiding it in the first place.
What it does for you
Solo camping doesn’t ONLY offer endless amounts of memories to look back on.
It empowers you, makes you stronger – body, mind and soul, and makes you grow as a person.
This is how you become strong-minded – by stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something you have never done before.
See, it goes back to that comfort zone thing again.
You really do need to stay away from it 😛

My Final Opinion
Of course I’m not a saint myself.
Growing up I always thought women were the weaker sex, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized that that isn’t the case.
Women are INCREDIBLY strong, there’s no doubt about it.
Carrying that strong mindset into the wilderness will be a big help for you, believe me.
Well I think it’s time to wrap up this article.
If I want you to take just one piece of advice from me today, it will be to get out of your comfort zone.
Like I said, procrastination kills dreams.
Only you pave the road ahead – not the guy or girl next to you, only YOU.

Camping Mastery
Thanks for such a honest article; I had never read an article like this anywhere. You have inspired me to go camping now. 🙂
I got inspired by a comment on another solo camping article of mine. I’m glad you liked it!
Just found your blog, Brandon, and it is inspiring! I’ve been solo #vanlife a few times, but never to a forest, always somewhere public like a Walmart parking lot. But I’m ready to solo in a National Forest (Cherokee). Being alone is more frightening for me, but it is the solitude I crave. So I’m trying a campground one night, then dispersed camping on the second. Thanks for the pep talk, the “yes you can!” because most people think, at 55, I’m nuts.
This is so exciting to me! I knew of a young woman who set out to hike the entire Appalachian Trail solo before going to med school. I have always admired her bravery and drive.
I’m just getting into camping, but have always been a lover of the outdoors. I think solo camping will do my heart, mind, and soul wonders… thanks for the encouragement, Brandon!
