If Bottle was a Star Wars Character: Mace Windu
Introduction:
I am reviewing the Hydro Flask 32oz. wide mouth water bottle. This is the next in the series of water bottle reviews we’ve been doing over the past few weeks. Be sure to check out the full water bottle comparison. The Hydro Flask brand is known for producing top quality insulated water bottles that will help keep you hydrated during a long day. Trust me, you will need a top-quality water bottle when kayaking down the Susquehanna River (The 32oz. is perfect for storing lots of water because you are not going to want to have to drink the river water!).
Our Conclusion:
Overall, the Hydro Flask 32oz. Wide Mouth insulated water bottle is an easy to use and stylish water bottle. If you are looking for an insulated stainless-steel water bottle that will keep drinks hot or cold, then the Hydro Flask should be on your radar. We put the Hydro Flask through multiple tests and for the most part it lived up to the expectations and its price tag. The only downside that I found was the 32oz bottle does not fit in a normal cup holder (very minor downside).
Description:
The Hydro Flask 32oz. Wide Mouth bottle is an insulated water bottle made from 18/8 Pro-Grade stainless steel. This water bottle comes in 11 different colors, so you should be able to find a color that best suits your taste. The Hydro Flask is also dishwasher safe. For all you people who don’t know how to run a dishwasher, learn, and put your Hydro Flask in the dishwasher (It is a lot easier than hand washing!). This insulated water bottle is also BPA-free, Phthalate-free, and comes with a lifetime warranty.
When to Use This Water Bottle:
The Hydro Flask is best used for hiking, camping, kayaking, river rafting, and other outdoor activities. My brother would also say that this water bottle is perfect for taking to school to keep your drink nice and cold! (Apparently in 6th grade you aren’t cool unless you have a Hydro Flask with stickers on it)
Other things you can use the Hydro Flask 32oz. insulated water bottle for:
- Keeping your drink cold during a sporting event
- Landscaping on a hot summer day
- Boating at the lake
- Dumping water on your girlfriend? (Actually, that might not be the best)
- or other various outdoor adventures on which you may find yourself.
When Not to Use This Water Bottle:
The Hydro Flask 32oz. water bottle can pretty much be used for just about any situation in which you will need to keep drinks hot or cold. The Hydro Flask 32oz. shouldn’t be used for:
- Hiding your brothers tip money
- Catching a raddle snake
- Hitting a baseball
- Cheating on your final exam because you slacked off playing video games all semester (Come on Jonny, stop playing Fortnite and study for once in your life!)
Test Results:
In order to really see if Hydro Flask 32oz. water bottle can put the money where their mouth is, I ran some tests. The first test I ran was the leak test. The second test I put the Hydro Flask through was a temperature test. Next, I tested to see how durable the Hydro Flask was. Lastly, I tested to see if the Hydro Flask was girlfriend proofed (This was my personal favorite!). Please see below for results.
Leak Test:
For the leak test, I filled the insulated water bottle with water and measured from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle, which was 11/16th of an inch. I, then, ensured I screwed the cap on real tight and laid the water bottle completely on its side for 24 hours. After 24 hours, I opened the water bottle and there was no water lost. The measurement from the top of the water to the top of the water bottle was still the same, at 11/16th of an inch. The Hydro Flask is 100% leak proof according to my test. You will not have to worry about the Hydro Flask leaking on your hiking, hunting, or camping trip.
Temperature Test:
I filled the insulated bottle with 18oz of water that was 46 degrees Fahrenheit and set the bottle inside my kitchen, which was around 70 degrees in temperature. I, then, checked the temperature of the water every hour for the next 12 hours. After 12 hours, I checked the temperature of the water with a meat thermometer (the same way I had been) and the temperature was 59.1 degrees. That means the temperature of the water went up 13.1 degrees and was still below the room temperature. I know this test isn’t exactly scientific (as I am not a scientist), but it does show the power the Hydro Flask has! It keeps water cold for long periods of time!
Durability Test:
Hydro Flask is known for its colorful and stylish insulated water bottles that can keep drinks hot and cold. I really wanted to see how durable the Hydro Flask really was. I thought that dropping it out my bedroom window onto the concrete would be a good way to test it. The distance from the window to the concrete is 12 feet. I filled the Hydro Flask with water, and I dropped it out of the window. I tested the Hydro Flask after the YETI Rambler. The YETI Rambler performed so well on this test, so I thought for sure that the Hydro Flask would as well. I have to say, I wasn’t as impressed with the results as I was with the YETI Rambler. The YETI Rambler barely had any damage and the Hydro Flask got a big dent on the bottom. The Hydro Flask was also scuffed up a bit. All that being said, the Hydro Flask is still extremely durable. To only have one dent is impressive on its own. The Hydro Flask is a durable water bottle.
Hydro Flask 32oz. vs. Girlfriend:
I was trying to come up with unique ways to test the Hydro Flask and sure I could have performed other temperature tests or durability test, but many others have already performed similar tests. So, I wanted to test my girlfriend, Monica, against the Hydro Flask (When I say test, I am talking about the water bottle, not her patience). I noticed that she was outside playing basketball, so I thought if I could sneak up on her and dump water on her it would be funny! (Don’t feel bad for her, she is always dumping water on people) Well, I planned it perfectly because when I went outside, she had her back to me, so I was able to dump the water on her! I then ran from her, but she ended up getting the water bottle and chucking it! Lucky the water bottle didn’t get a scratch on it.
If this bottle was a Star Wars Character:
My favorite section of the article! I would say the Hydro Flask insulated water bottle compares to Mace Windu. I think the Hydro Flask compares to Mace Windu because the Hydro Flask is known for being a stylish water bottle that comes in many colors. In my opinion, I think that Mace Windu has the most stylish lightsaber (I mean it is the only purple lightsaber, how could it not be the most stylish?) Not only that but Mace Windu was one of the most powerful Jedi, and the Hydro Flask is one of the most “powerful” water bottles. The Hydro Flask can keep drinks ice cold and withstand a beating, just like when Mace Windu withstood the Sparatisits forces during the battle of Genonosis and killed Jango Fett.
