If you’re like 80% of the world, you’re probably wondering why everyone loves camping so much, or just the outdoors for that matter.
I’m here to speak on behalf of all outdoor lovers and explain to you why camping is fun, and why you should embark on a camping trip at least once in your life.
1) Reconnect With Nature
This is where we first came from, it’s necessary to learn a little about the outdoors and experience how our ancestors used to live.
You will appreciate what we actually have in our everyday life even more, while respecting what Mother Nature also has to offer.
2) A Break From The Daily Grind
Temporarily living off the grid is a wonderful activity.
No more rat race, stressful work phone calls, coffeemaker, or blow dryer, etc. When you rid yourself of the modern comfort, you recover from work demands… and the busy lifestyle in general.
It’s just an all-round great idea to help refresh your mind, ultimately making you a better person.
Of course if you’re anything like me then you will still want that great cup of coffee in the morning. Check out Steph’s guide on how to make great coffee outdoors.
3) Exploring
One of my favorite activities to do in the wilderness, and even better when done with others (especially for safety reasons).
Exploring the great outdoors gives you amazing scenery that no city life can offer you, and the best part of it all? You can snap pictures and share the moments with your extended family, other friends, and new friends that you come across in your travels 🙂
At least you get some valuable exercise in while you’re having fun too!
4) Watching Wildlife
I love wildlife, and the best way to see them is in their natural habitat! No zoo is going to come close to what it’s like to see these amazing creatures out in the wild and doing what they do best, living freely.
Yes they are dangerous, however they like to avoid us as much as we want to avoid them, always remember that.
5) The Quiet Time
Of course, you can get some quiet time at home after a hard days work. BUT, there’s something 100x more special about being out in nature and listening to the beautiful sounds of the bids chirping and the rivers flowing.
Crickets chirping at night, along with the breeze blowing through the trees is another sound of my favorite, it helps me relax and unwind from the busy life, and freshens me up for the new week ahead.
6) Valuable Family Time
Family is valuable to us all and they are not always going to be here. All the more reason to spend time with them as much as possible while we are all here, young and still kicking it.
You can either go camping with your partner and kids, or go the extra mile, extend it to more of your family (cousins, brothers, aunts, uncles) and have a hell of a good time.
7) Different Meals
The breakfast burrito, I will only have it when I go camping, it’s a great way for me to celebrate the peace and tranquility that I’m currently in.
I love waking up at 5 a.m, firing up the campfire and getting some breakfast ready. These different meal ideas make it a lot more fun. There are literally thousands of things you can try, a little imagination and an open mind can go a long way.
8) Stargazing
You can do this in your backyard but it won’t be as good.
Stargazing with your friends and family is better when camping. While the trees are blowing and crickets chirping, and because of the different environment you’re in, it makes this small activity so much better than any other time.
9) Learning New Skills
Humans are advanced creatures BECAUSE of our ability to use tools. This is a good time to brush up on your fishing skills, navigation, tent pitching, etc.
There are so much new skills we can learn, or we can just brush up on our current ones. There is literally thousands of them, so you will never run out of new skills to try out.
10) Spending More Time With Your Furry Friends
In the busy lifestyle, we tend to disconnect ourselves from our friends and family, our pets are almost not even thought of.
They are part of the family too, and they love us more than we think they do. It is important to spend time with our pets, and what better way to do that in the great outdoors, where you AND your dog will enjoy every second of it.

11) The Sun Sets And Sun Rises
You’re in some great locations to witness the views of the sun sets and sun rises. A lot of the times (when we are back at home), we tend to miss these breathtaking movements that the sun provides.
12) Sleeping In A Tent
Do I need to say more? When you sleep in a tent, there is only a very thin material separating you and the outside world. It’s so much fun and exciting to know that that’s all you will be sleeping in that night.
When you come back from your hike in the wild and finish having dinner, as soon as you crawl into that sleeping bag you’re out like a light. You’re way too exhausted to be frightened from the twigs snapping or the sounds of the movements happening in the bushes.
Conclusion
Camping isn’t for everyone, I get that. But you should consider going for a camping trip AT LEAST once in your life. I’m not counting that school trip you done 10-20 years ago either!
This is something that needs to be done in your adulthood. And the reasons I have outlined above should help you make the right decision. You never know, you might like it more than you think.
